Muddy digs Rory ???? Some controversy about who is playing on this track
some say Muddy and Sammy Lawhorn
Rory was at the sessions
Only the late Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher seems to be interacting with the old master here (and guitarist Sammy Lawhorn) while Stevie Winwood, Georgie Fame and Mitch Mitchell seem to be totally lost.

I thought to share Cropper with you this evening, the guitarist/songwriter/producer nicknamed The Colonel down in Memphis.
Since we were listening to Little Richard on The Flames last night speaking and singing of Otis Redding being inducted into the Hall of Fame,
I also thought that it might be cool to share a small taste of his roots.
He is the producer who produced many of Stax Records' stars, including the aforetohere-mentioned Mr. Redding.

From the lp, The Deep End, Vol.1; which was released after the death of Doug Woody, (bass). The band considered disbanding, but released this lp which includes some of Wood's favorite songs.
Haynes and Woody were replacement players in the Allman Bros Band. This album features Oteil Burbridge, who took Woody's spot on bass for the Allman Bros. Band. Other bass "greats" include Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, Chris Wood, Bootsie Collins, Flea and others who paid tribute to Woody by playing in his "spot".

Ran into this when looking up Bostonia Ballroom (El Cajon). I never went there, but from the list of folks who played there I sure wish I had.
At 17, Byrds cofounder Hillman also played his first gig at the Bostonia Ballroom.
Someone who started out about the same time as Elvis and was signed to the same record company at the same time was Johnny Cash. He played the Ballroom about eight or ten times, starting in the early fifties when he was billed as Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two, with Marshall Grant and Luther Perkins (he was paid $150.00 and the tickets to get in were $1.00 each) Johnny Horton in April of 1952, (He was paid $50.00 and the tickets to get in were $1.00) Wanda Jackson in September 1956 (She was paid $150.00 and the tickets were $1.25) There was a ‘Package deal’ for Bill Monroe, Lefty Frizzell and Terry Fell for $800.00 December 30, 1955. Lefty Frizzell appeared at the Ballroom over the years about thirty times.
