Tobia:

Sometimes you hear so many variants, it's nice to get back to the "originals" (as I first heard them anyway). Lots of times on a tiny little radio in a vw.

Thanks Nita, I am always moved by your selections.
Yeah Mike does have some interesting stories...a lot mainly have to do with traveling with some of his Dad's groups in Japan and his job was to keep them straight enough to do the evening's show. Usually involved the big bad drugs of heroin and the likes. Too many accidentally offed themselves...but not on Mikes watch.

The muttering retreats
Of restless nights in one-night cheap hotels
And sawdust restaurants with oyster-shells"

A nice jazz standard called I Hear A Rhapsody.

The first time I heard it was when buddy at a live jazz gig threw it on my music stand and told me to play it on my 'bone. No problem playing the head, but when it came time for my solo, I got totally lost in the chord changes.

The trumpet player told me it wasn't that hard once I heard it a few times, and indeed he is right. So I record it live on my piano, then play it back and play the 'bone solo.

Got every chord right tonight - yay.
