So 1982 was a pivital year for me. I just got out of high school, saved my $$$ and packed it up for my first trip to jtree in Nov of 1982....
there i managed to make my money last until MArch of 1983 and in the course of that time my whole life changed. I knew i would never go to college, and that climbing would also be the #1 most important thin in my life (next to family).
I met the crew that winter and really learned to climb...
so i would like to see the posts for that year and that crew..
russ, todd, Largo, Roy, Lechinski's if they lurk here, vogel, Cilley, Powell, Bachar, and Epi...and all the rest!!!!

Post em if you got em...

My first 10.D @ Jtree...

Most of my J-Tree pics are 2000 miles to the east or 3000 miles to the west of my present location.
This shot I do have on hand, (a little earlier than 82, about 11/79) I allways laugh at.
I should've scammed a shower before coming down from the camp-4. No folks those are not nylons, that is just good ole tan and C-4 dirt. Would you believe my hair went back to almost blonde once I did finally get a shower.

That news photo Bachar posted back in 2008 in full hang off of Bearded Cabbage rules! JB must be showing for the camera, that was on his free solo circuit. I've seen him free solo that route on more than one occasion in the 80s and don't recall seeing the full hang off of one hand while he chalks up with his off hand. Love to see the full sized color version of that one. Spectacular pic, it's hard to realize for kids today how much Bachar defined "badass" back in the day.

In '82 I was a year out of high school as well and a freshman at Orange Coast College. I had 16 units each semester though and often worked weekends but would occasionally roll out for the weekend or a day with folks like Eric Held, Bob Cox, Bob Critchfield and Nabolsi--all of whom, with the exception of Andre, seemed to utterly and completely disappear. Good times though. It'd be nice to be that young, strong and carefree again.
