bushman's words remind me of dylan's, If Dogs Run Free. No telling what he had in mind when he wrote it; for me me it describes the spirit of a beloved dog running free. Not limited to those with us now; but also those that have left us.

If dogs run free, then why not we
Across the swooping plain ?
My ears hear a symphony
Of two mules, trains and rain
The best is always yet to come
That's what they explain to me
Just do your thing, you'll be king
If dogs run free.

If dogs run free, why not me
Across the swamp of time ?
My mind weaves a symphony
And tapestry of rhyme
Oh, winds which rush my tale to thee
So it may flow and be
To each his own, it's all unknown
If dogs run free.

If dogs run free, then what must be
Must be and that is all
True love can make a blade of grass
Stand up straight and tall
In harmony with the cosmic sea
True love needs no company
It can cure the soul, it can make it whole
If dogs run free.

Daisy in her 'work' vest she was a visiting pet at the V.A. &the VAFWThanx, Brave she was one amazing pooch. she went on like a puppy getting down in a playful stance and baring her big teeth, she was spunky till she curled up by the heater and went. . . of all my many relationships with big dogs, Daisy was the bestGirl she was sturdy & fierce, a guard dog but a mother and sneaky if she wanted to be ARGH IT IS and so shall be
miss my daisy, whish spring had come for her she loved to break the thin ice of spring mornings.

We had to put our chessie down a couple years back due to cancer :(

With persistent daily bugging from my son I finally made a visit to the pound and picked up this girl.

Its taken her awhile to bond with the family (we're the third or fourth home she's had in two years), but it seems after being smothered with love she's figured it out

^^^ When we lose our fur friends they can't be replaced, but paying it forward seems the right way to go.

Brandon,

I'm doing well, thanks for asking. I've just been super busy with non climbing stuff aka life stuff. We bought a lot, spend last winter and spring clearing it, had a house built and just moved in a bit over a month ago. Half our stuff is still in boxes. Even though the house is done, we have 1/2 acre of dirt to landscape, so that will likely suck up most of my summer. Our son's graduating hs so my plan is to at least get the yard off the porch leveled out and gravel spread so we can have an area to bbq.

On the up side, we're just a few minutes drive from road side climbing and we can hike into the Chugach from our house, though I need to find an access point that doesn't involve walking through someones yard.

Can't believe I've been away from this place for a few years, but it seems like I haven't been gone as I see familiar names and threads. I did manage to get in some top roping last summer with the kids. We've had pretty much a non winter so only one day of skiing and it wasn't worth digging out the ice gear.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for a pretty face. The funny thing is, she's the first lap dog we've had, or at least she thinks she's a lap dog. As best we can tell she's an Anatolian Shepard, definately has the look and temperment though small for her breed at ~70#'s. But she has no qualms about walking up to whoever is sitting or laying on the couch and plopping herself next to or on top of them. As my daughter says, "She's a sassy bitch, I like her" She also has no qualms about eating whatever we're eating if it isn't closely guarded which one morning was an entire batch of pancakes.

She has a perfectly good dog bed and most every night she'll go to sleep on it, and most every morning you'll find her

Though the cute sleeper award goes to our kitten our kids found last summer, starvin marvin

And apparently we're getting a puppy (one dog and two cats isn't enough)

Our oldest boy suffers my weakness for cute critters and someone at his school has been getting rid of a litter.

Somehow he doesn't see a conflict in "Oh yeah I'll take care of the puppy" and starting college in the fall.

Hey Paul, nice pooch. I can see the Anatolian in her too. My wife says she sees Great Pyrenees. Something about double dew claws. Related breeds anyway. Show us some pics of your new house. Put the dog in it so that it remains on-topic.;)

Good eye on the double dew claws. I need to give her a pedicure, but the pooch nail trimmers are one of those many items yet to be unpacked. You can accumulate a lot of crap if you haven't moved in 18 years!!!

I'll throw up some house pics in the what are you building thread.
