Thanx eKat. Those are both Montana dogs that moved to the Eastside. Foster came from a lineage of lion hunting dogs in(get this)Racetrack Montana. Ever been there? Props if you have. ;-)

April is, indeed, the cruelest month...

I knew the cancer was incurable but was persuaded chemo could give her, on average, 3-6 months of quality life. Sadly, Maggie only got about 10 days of remission. A trip to the emergency room last Friday showed the cancer had returned. Fortunately, she was never in pain, just sickly, and they were able to make her comfortable enough to spend the night at home.

The poor vet was crying even before she came into the room. I felt as bad for her as I'm sure she felt for me...what a terrible way to begin a weekend shift.

The end was peaceful and heartbreaking.

and, yes, i would and will do it all over again...emily bronte called it "rapturous pain" and "divinest anguish" (of course, she was talking about a man)

Sorry bookworm.

I have a cat who faints several times a week from heart problems. It's really difficult to know what to do. We're often told to live in the present but it's also good to think back on the happy past.

on the lighter side...

my boy is more aloof; he likes affection but on his terms; he comes to me when he wants a rubdown

now, that maggie is gone, there's nobody to deflect my attention...i can tell he's getting annoyed though he bears it patiently

The love of my life,

I'm in love with this girl like I've never loved before!

Spring and the kids are stoked to be outside again!

Sunbathing is her favorite. She's my sexy bitch!

Y'all hear about the 3 year old who went missing in S Dakota yesterday?
A lengthy frantic search was looking grim in the face of a nasty thunderstorm
and nightfall when they found him curled up beneath his pooch as the rain
was beginning.

When you have a good dog, you don't just have a best friend, you have a connection, a bond stronger than most human relationships. I have been blessed with Lass who raised me and surprising, I find myself with another incredible good dog by my side.

When I lose her, I'll lose a family member.

What's puzzling about the above video is the woman running away leaving the perhaps seriously injured child still lying there vulnerable to another attack? Or am I interpreting this wrongly?
I mean with a injury like that the woman should have picked the child up and taken him inside to wait for Paramedics.
Heroic cat or not ---an adult does not run away from an injured child like that.

Ain't nobody going to screw with that cats kid.

To me the best part is after the cat makes his first strike. He takes the time to look and make sure is child is ok, then back to the job at hand.
