Ain't that the truth.

Get another pup. It really helps.

Nothing like watching your dog happily roll in the grass!

Having two dogs and frequently dog sitting for my dad has afforded me the opportunity to watch three dogs rolling around in the grass together many times.

It never fails to make me laugh. They're just so damn happy!

Max has settled into his new home quite well- it's like he's been here forever.

We're working on some minor behavioral issues, such as protectionism & barking at arriving guests & passers by, but he's definitely making progress. I've just tried to not have any reaction to his barking at all, rather than scolding- getting negative attention is just as 'rewarding'(?) as positive attention.

Late the other night (11:30) we were sitting on the patio, and he took off running after someone walking by- I hadn't even heard them coming, and Max did some good barking. The guy took off running, too, with no vocal reaction in spite of the fact that we were sitting right there.

Our rural area has had a pretty fair share of recent burglaries, breakins & vandalism in recent years. Though I don't like having my dog tear off down the road like that, it was kinda hard to come down on him in any way for that kind of protectionism. I gave him a treat instead. Good Max.

I was sleeping on my deck and this morning I woke to my friend Heidi coming running up my driveway hollering for me.
She was walking her 8 month old black lab Emma and a coyote charged and Emma bolted.
So we spent the morning looking for Emma and just found her up behind the Wawona Hotel.
We figure she ran at least a couple of miles as a few people reported where they had seen her.
She is such a sweet dog.
I will get pictures as soon as i can.
Just had to share that as I know people here care about their dogs.

And yes.. she was off leash.
We have her about 90 percent trained to not chase animals.
She now comes immediately on seeing birds, squirrels, deer, and other dogs.
This was her first experience with a coyote.
She still barks at some people but mostly she just alerts to people and animals.

Yowzer.. what a morning.

On a side note, how do you get a good picture of a totally black dog?
I have seen pictures of her when she was a few months old and you can barely distinguish her features.
Most of what you see is this black blob. haha..

It seems to me like dogs only do better AND are in their element when they are off leash.

The leash introduces weird dog interactions that don't click with the pack mentality.

Let those K9s run. Although maybe not the Pitbulls.

Those mother effers are as crazy as their owners.

If you disagree, kiss my ass, I'm off to Australia.
