The best thing seen on the evening news in ages!
Evrey one of the "3000 friends or so" who were on that segment, as well as Ken,of course, you are awesome.
And then there was Grant as well!
Warm Cheers.

What do you think about that Nash?
Mysterious Indeed.

Have not seen the second part. Ken comes across extremely well.

A natural!

The work cleaning up the Merced clearly was a bear. Miles of it. Hard to imagine.

For some reason, when you click on this it leads to a piece about being strip-searched at McDonald's. At least for me. There's a search feature in the lower right hand corner - search under "Yosemite", and you'll find the piece about the Facelift.

Great job everyone. The gods must have smiled on all of you, because according to the ABC clip Yosemite Falls was crankin'. Heck, when I got there last week, it was more like a moist smear.

Some of the background footage was clearly historical. For example, that showing the upper Falls in full glory, and the bear sequence. The latter is straight from the Visitor Centre "don't feed the bears" video. Artistic licence, eh?

Excellent coverage! Props to Ken for star-like composure and flow in the interviews!

I can't think of a more deserving person than Grant to do a segment on! Awesome!

The interviewer-on-a-rope was classic as well...funny his name is "Muir" LOL

I got all choked up when I watched the piece. Thanks everyone!

Any chance that Steelmnkey or Jaybro could send me the rip via Skype or iChat?
If knott full DVD quality, Xvid AVI (or similar) would look still great at full-screen,
and could be exported to iPhone, iPod, ect. Either way, the 5 minute segment
could be sent rather quickly on a broadband connection (there's no limit to file-size
you can send over Skype or iChat).

Fishy came all the way from Zurich with Sabrina. He is very camera friendly and did a great job on the show. The full nightline version was a superb piece of work, I thought. More people in it so you could get a better feel for the breadth of what is driving the whole thing. The shot of stuff being short hauled in by helicopter left me saying, "Whoa! There is real horsepower here."

Leaves one wondering if anything is impossible once climbers, other people, and land managers(NPS) have together decided we need to do something?

It sounds like there's an extended version - can someone provide a link for it? I've only been able to see the five minute piece that was on TV yesterday, using the links posted so far. I know I'm missing something - I haven't seen anything with Fishy (Peter G) and family in it. Thanks!

Edit: I tried all the different links, plus some searching the ABC site, without finding Fishy. Here fishy fishy ...

Another edit: Special thanks to Fishy and family for bringing large quantities of fine Swiss chocolate for the FaceLift. With fine wine (Tim and Jeff), chocolate (Peter & family) and sushi (Doug, Guy, Bruce, Nurse Ratchet, other), it was starting to seem quite civilized.
