USA last three World cups, 8th, 25th, and 12th. I don't think they have a chance to get outta group stages this year, but do think they are a better team than the last two cups. Altidore and Dempsey can score. Julian Green from Munich is young, but will be good soon enough. Klinsmann is the perfect coach to get the most outta the Americans.
I'd like to see them do good, but they kinda bore me to watch, maybe cause like Reilly is saying they don't have a true scorer.

A great day! Manure sent packing and Atletico go through without Costa. Only downside is the Blue Racists are still in it.

I have always thought that

NFL stands for "NO F@CKING Life"!

or one from the old master from a similar vein:
"I find that rock climbing is the finest, most healthiest sport in the whole world. It is much healthier than most; look at baseball, where 10 000 sit on their ass to watch a handful of players" — John Salathé, 1974.

although this should be updated to millions sit on their asses for a handful of players...

It is nothing like ski racing. In Europe young talent, mostly working class, is taken away to "academies" at elementary school age where they do a lot more practicing than playing games or studying. The most sports crazed parents in the U.S. Would never do anything like that, especially for soccer.

And that's just Europe. Throw in Africa and South America, where any one with any athletic ability plays soccer instead of picking one among dozens of sports and you have a pretty competitive world out there.

No way does the U.S. Make it out its group, though that's not that harsh given the group.

Sh#t yeah, but would be cool to see the special one watch his old team destroy his new one. Like I said earlier, I'd like to see Real play Bayern in the Semis, so we get to watch two games between the two.
Then again a battle of Madrid would be good too. I'm happy with whatever the draw holds.

Bayern vs Real should be good. Not sure I've got a pick there, depends if CR7 is still hurt or not. Maybe a slight edge to Bayern.

Hope Atletico beats Chelski. Though as much as I dislike Mourinho, he seems to be a damn good manager. Also interesting as Costa is the main striker target for Chelsea this summer.

Hopefully the Gunners can get their mojo back against Wigan tomorrow.

Interestingly England has put paid to the Terraces Terrorists. The worst
now seem to be in Spain and, as always, Italy, both countries where law
enforcement is a part-time avocation.

Bayern-Atletico final= 2-1 to the hard working Bavarians.

Moyes sacked.

Costa could be playing his future team today, which would suck cause I like Costa. Go Atletico.

Liverpool looking good.

Rooting for Liverpool to win-out. Don't like the Mancs of either persuation and despise the Chelscum almost as much as the Gooners.

Soon enough our long nightmare of a season will end and Tim Sherwood can FRO. Just hoping we don't lose out on Van Gaal now that Moyes is sacked.

Football may be the most beautiful sport, but that game today was not a good example. Mourinho gets results, but he's a whiny jerk that too often plays anti-football. That might be acceptable for a minnow club playing a giant, but Chelsea has the budget of a giant. They ought to be able to do better.

Sorry if you don't post spoilers here.

wrt Atletico/Chelsea

I really want to see the next match. I don't know how they didn't score today, but all Atletico needs is an away goal to be in a strong strong position. That's not to say that I really expect them to pull through, but I can hope.
