hey there all, not sure if this will keep form:

nope, did not work... will try again:

(i had tried to make a gal and a horse, out of typing symbols, but it all shrivelled out of order--such is posting word-type for art, i reckon...)

well self portrait will NOT look much like my brother "chappy", but there are 8 of us, total kids, so we all tend to overlap in looks... but we all tend to love the great outdoors in some way or other, so perhaps we all have windy hair?... GO TO:

http://neebeeshaabookway.com/ then on the nav-bar, hit: NOTES
(or, hit: GIFTS)

as i said, i dont look much like "chappy" (my brother mark chapman) but then, we dont even look like our folks, quite a feat, at that, for being versitile...

hey there jello... awww, shucks... (course, that pic was taken TWO years ago... one MUST be honest, you know...).. the years are creeping up...

yep, i'm his older sis, by about one year...actually he's got two (she's the youngest) (well, three sis's, see the ps. below), and the rest are all brothers (some may know them, as they had been to yosemite off an on back in the old days--i was in texas, then and far OUT of touch with all, sadly, and still am, that is why when i saw his name here, i signed in, as i miss them all)...

actually, we NONE of us really look much alike... we do over lap on occasion, so-and-so has this nose, and so-and-so has that ones nose, and he or she has their eyes, etc... we're a mixed up bunch, and all from the same two parents, that why i said "quite a feat"...

*ps. we do have a younger sis that was adopted out, as she had downsyndrom, and that was a hard time in our lives... so due to respect to the folks, we dont mention it much--but i do, as she is still part of us...

hey there, mike... as to you trying to post a pic... say, throwing an anchor to floundering buddy, as you got many buddies here, is what life is all about.... and that is what self portraits are all about---sharing life....

so hang on to that anchor and steady for your ol' boat... and keep trying... ( i sure dont know how to do this yet, but i keep hear-telling about bits of it... i will learn some day, with a garden pic... :) )

matisse

Aug 13, 2007 - 01:30pm PT
well sort of but not really. i.e. not a long personal story with this one.

This is a technique called monoprinting that I've been using for some of my work, and I've been experimenting with using it for portraits. I paint on a sheet of sanded plexiglass with watercolor paints and let them dry and then transfer the paint to a sheet of watercolor paper which I've soaked. I like it because it really gives unexpected results.

I'm now at the point technically with it that I can pretty much dictate how the paint will transfer and I'm trying to see just how far I can push the technique in terms of detail. I really like patterns particularly Indian designs, so I'm working an a series of portraits of women that are painted with patterns. This is number 1 in the series.
