What is THE (as in singular) most beautiful thing to you? The one thing that makes your heart melt and sing at the same time? The one thing that is as beautiful now as the first time you saw it?

Post up one photo to share THE most beautiful thing with us. I'll go first (and it' no surprise):

MY BABY BIRDS!

The way they feel, the way they smell, the way they sound. Though my youngest is almost 10, I can still visit these sensations by a look at a photograph. I mean, look at that adorable little rump on Gabbie! And those eyes!

Wow, I made the single photo rule and I'm having trouble sticking with only one photo already!

I make up little songs to sing to my dogs as I walk them. Half the time I'm talking to them ('watch out for that stroller. Hey, look at that!" stuff like that) and the songs just came out of it. People sometimes - okay, often - look at me wierd, but I just feel sorry for them. So uptight that they can't risk a public display of emotion.....

Anyway, one of Teddy's songs goes:

Teddy the Wonderhound
He's the best dog all around
Everyone knows that Teddy is
The best dog that there ever was
Teddy....the Won-der-ho-ounnnnnnd!

The most beautiful THING I have is probably this scrimshaw pendant I have of just a womans face, eyes closed, slight smile. Sublime.

The most beautiful CREATURE in my life is my horse, hands down, he makes my heart melt. My dog ain't half bad either.

But, I am surrounded by such beauty every day that when I stop and soak it in, it brings tears to my eyes.

Many, many beautiful trees. Rocks. The way a swale dips and undulates into a little tarn. All the flowers this year! Wow!

There are soooo many beautiful things in my life. This barely scrathes the surface.

1. Seeing happiness in my son's faces.
2. The sight of someone I love smiling in their sleep.
3. Descending an alpine route with the sun STILL shining!

EKaterinaBallerinaOrcalinaFakeBlinnyrina, Corzo is THE stuff. Be careful though, once sipped you will have a hard time stepping back to lesser tequila. In taste tests of Corzo Reposado against Patron Anjeho, the Corzo tastes about 3 times more expensive but costs only a couple bucks more. I have yet to try the Corzo Anjeho but word is I will receive a bottle for my birthday next week and will let you know how it is. So, if you think you are a tequila snob but haven't tried Corzo, you are missing out.

Here are 3 of my most beautiful things!!

My wife Lilly, my 4 1/2 month old baby Oliver and OUR dog Le Petit.

This was the first time the baby showed interest/comprehension and pet the dog, so cute! The sad part is that this picture was about 3 hours before we had to put the pup to sleep. Last week he started bleeding out his nose and we found his platelet levels to be deadly. The bleeding stopped but the medication to help did nothing. So the vet said that if he starts bleeding again he would just bleed to death... cancer of some sort. After a gentle walk in the backyard and some fun with the baby his nose started up again last night. We wanted to make sure he didn't go into panic or distress so we put him down. The hardest thing I've ever had to do. At least he was 14 and we rescued him from an abusive home 7 years ago and had a great second half to his life! Not so much a dog as an angel to us. You dog lovers know. So, rest in peace Petit, THE most beautiful dog/angel!

Stzzo;..yeah....I took that photo...with a little point and shoot $150.00 mini Olympus camera.....We were on a peak call Vilunaraju(sp)....just out of Hauraz (sp again...).....it looks like a bull's horns...and sure had great views of Oshalpalca and Ranrapalca....the climb was cool.......took a taxi from town up a dirt road to a place where trucks go everyday to cut chunks of ice out of the glacier, which they turned around and sold in town to the local markets. IT had about 500 feet on easy (5.5-5.7) slabs on granite....then cool easy snow ice (a few steep sections) to the summit.....which was maybe 16,000-18,000'.....something like that.....great one day trip with great views and fairly straightforward and relatively safe climbing.....I'm not a good photographer, but go to places often where even a dummy like me can get the killer shots!

Yo Mojede, if those are your kids, I got bad news.

I think we're related.

If you're wife is named Molly and her mom (aunt? sorry, it's a huge family) recently passed in a terrible auto accident (RIP)...anyways, said mother or aunt would be the sister of my wifes grandma.

Not sure how to work the dog's dentist sisters garbageman into the scenario but you get the gist...

I've never met Ladd but good lookin kid there and Liddie looks like her mom.

Also, the boldering at grandma's house makes those holiday sufferfests worthwile. Especially if there was another climber to play on them!!!

It's funny, from our house we barely see the summer moon because it's low in the sky, behind trees. In winter, though, the moon's high overhead and lights up our white world of snow.

What we do see this time of year, when I walk the dog on our dark trail through the woods -- fireflies. Sometimes at dusk they're doing whatever they do about 4 feet off the ground, so all around us the forest sparkles like a special effect.
