Nita,

We have the whole Yellow Pines Campground on the 25th. The only other people there are the campground hosts. Site A is nearest the river and farthest away from the hosts, if I recall correctly. As long as they aren't bothered everything shall be fine.

A.C. OK! I'll start the collection as soon as I have 20 on the list.

The number stands at 13 right now. Brutus and Em are trying to make it but not sure yet. Nita and hubby would be in late that night so I have them down as maybe.

Stzzo,

I went to Yellow Pines yesterday and you are right site D is at the end of the road. Site A is closer to Sentinel Beach and site D is more secluded. Regardless we have the whole campground the night of the 25th so Nature can do his sushi magic anywhere he pleases. I reserved the whole site for the night of the 26th as well. After that I have sites A and B reserved through the weekend. The Yosemite Fund has sites C and D.

The evening shows are arranged and there has been one addition. On the 26th Royal Robbins will join Tom Frost and co-host a showing of Sentinel, West Face. All other shows were listed earlier in the thread. Raffle prizes have been coming in at a regular pace.

I must be a glutton for punishment because I not only started the addition on my house, I also started a new job. It is nice to have an income again but, what was I thinking?

Chicken Skinner = Ken?...

If so Ken, this will be our first trip to Yosemite. I am looking for some advice on camping etc.

-We will arrive in Fresno late on the 21st and will get a hotel somewhere between there and Yosemite.

-22nd we plan on hiking and fixing lines in the notch of lost arrow direct.

-23rd-25 or 26th climb the LA direct.

-After the direct on we are just planning on going with the flow until we leave on the 30th.

What do you recommend we do about camping from the 22nd on, we will have a rental car. Roy aka Tarbuster has recommended we reserve a camp site (upper pines) and rent bikes to get around.

Thanks for your help,

Prod.

Looks like Elaina and I can't make it. We have a Womens climbing event at the New and i almost forgot about it. Anybody planning another JT old school rendezvous? Or is that just every weekend like the old days?

Aw, man I'm such a moron sometimes, I thought it was August 25 this upcoming weekend. Stupid!

Well, I'll have more time to prepare...and more to time to rally Crowley into doing some routes with me. Maybe I can talk Matt into rope-gunning Serenity/Sons for me.

Hmmm - PMB, the doctor and PE all at the Facelift. The sushi eating suddenly has become considerably more competitive. To quote Shakespeare, they're definitely in the lean and hungry group.

So Chicken Skinner. Where is Yellow Pines campground?

Don't think I will be camping there, but I might drop in to meet a few Super T folk.

John,

It is the second left after the El Cap turnaround on the one-way Valley Loop (southside drive). The first left is Cathedral Beach, the second left is Yellow Pines and Sentinel Beach. It is just before the Four Mile Trail parking. You need to get in the left lane and look for it carefully or you may drive past it and have to drive back around to El Cap turnaround for another pass.

See you there.

nature posted to the other (Facelift/sushi) thread:
"Speaking of funding I spoke with Jesse the climbing ranger in Yosemite and he told me that he might be able to get me some funds from the park for the sushi and reduce the cost to everyone. I will stick with the $30/person for now and if that comes through I'll give you a refund at the fest. Jesse is really excited about the sushi.

He also has one major concern which is drinking and driving from the sushi in Yellow Pines to your camp. As he'll be on-scene and "working" he said he'd let the other rangers know he has the scene under control. But he also pointed out that if anyone gets busted for DUI or the like it'd shut us down for good. We will make a point to ensure this doesn't happen."

This makes a lot of sense, not just for sushi night (Tuesday 25th September), but the other nights. Particularly if many are camped at Yellow Pines. Many of the Facelift evening and social events are at or near the lodge, which involves a bit of a drive (or a nice starry walk) back to YP. So we'll need to be careful to have designated drivers and so on.

I'd like to suggest that we invite the YP campground hosts and Jesse, on a complimentary basis. Jesse's new wife, also. Perhaps others?

Edit: Sorry, I think I meant the visitor centre, not the lodge. Which would make it about 30 minutes walk?
