Thanks Werner. I can loan gear and ropes to you Jstan if you don't want to send it. I have way more than I could ever use at one time. Anders is right, you will not starve and I may have to have you both to dinner prior to the clean-up seeing as how you both have offered to help with organization. I appreciate it. Thanks.

So far I have had one person confirm they are in on the sushi. I realize it is a ways off so I'll just keep tabs. Probably sometime around the beginning of September is when I'll have to cut off.

Nature,
If it will help, I can confirm that my wife and I would love to try your craft. We have two kids also(11 and 4 years old). The 11 year old loves sushi, the 4 year old won't eat much. Bear #46 is psyched and I am sure has invited all of it's friends by now.It would be awesome if it works out, though I can understand the hardship of putting something like this together. If you pull it off it will be a Yosemite first I am sure. Thank you.

I am psyched that #46 is in. I'm sure #46 would prefer the fish raw so I now have no choice. Send #46 to Alaska to pick up some sockeye salmon?

Still waiting to hear from LEB, Fattrad, and a galaxy of other SuperTopo luminaries. Facelift is meant to be inclusive, and all are welcome, even trolls. Though a few rhetorical things may need to be checked at the entrance station. Clashes of civilization, inane questions, political flaming, and so on.

I would like to thank everyone that has responded with camping requests, it is making my life a lot easier. I still have a fair amount left, though it is starting to fill up. The sushifest sounds like fun and I hope it works out. If others can make it, let Nature and Mighty Hiker know so that plans can be made. As an alternative we can have a grill set up with a more casual evening. Either way it will be good. Thank you all for making this event work and hope to see you all there.

Just sent the email for the wife and I - we plan on doing the whole run from the 25th to the 30th.

Least we can do for all the stoke that the Valley has given to us.

Nature - add two more EXTREME sushi fiends to your list. Also my man - I spent some quality time behind the counter of some sushi joints in the past and can still work a maki mat pretty well.

Sous Chef Ricky D at your service.

Put me down as a "maybe"-- or rather, i will show up for at least a portion, but due to work commitments i just won't know until pretty late how much time i can take off.

if we run out of camping spots before i know my dates, i can always commute. i just want to hear john play his bagpipes.

klk, I have you down as a definite maybe. Maybe I'll have camping left and maybe I won't. Seriously, I will probably still have camping if you don't mind switching around a bit. Let me know when and if you need a site when you can and I will try to arrange it for you.

I missed the FaceLift thread when it first appeared, and came across this one a few weeks ago.... Told myself I couldn't afford to go, money or time-wise - especially since the Jtree SushiFest is only a month later.

It's been gnawing at me ever since.....

SO.....

I STILL don't know if I can do it(money/time-wise) but it can't hurt to do a little research! (hahaha- isn't that how it always starts). I would love to be there for the party night being referred to in this thread and do a day or two of helping with the cleanup, and get my first glimpse of Yosemite....

 Whic airports are nearest?
Which entrance to Yosemite would be the one I'd use to be going to this event?

Thanks in advance!

Happy, Jetblue -has a sale price from - NY to Oakland - $139 each way. From Oakland, maybe you can share a ride with a supertopian.

Don't forget to check the -Fresno airport.

The number for sushi is creeping up. Looks like we have seven.

Shoot me an email at nature _at_ sushibynature (dot) com if you want in. Or you can use my (new) ST email address. rock@holdit.com now gets bounced as spam (how the hell did ST allow that email address to get into the hands of spammers?)

I'll cap it at 25 and if I have a minimum of 20 it'll be a go. Once I get the list together we can decide on the fee. If the group wants to just do the minimum ingredients thing (shrimp/eel) we can go $20/head. For $30/head I'd be able to bring in some fresh Yellowtail or perhaps Big Eye or hamachi.

Pagan, I know you can't get to noisy in the campgrounds, but my husband is bringing his guitar.... he knows tons of songs.

Mighty Hiker and Ken,we will respect all rules.... That is a promise!

ps...Karl Baba, has shut my husband down -several times. :-)

Only seven for sushi?

Come on people - let's get that number up there. Don't be telling me that you don't like sushi.

It's easy enough to learn how - guppies and neon tetras are less than 3 bucks a dozen at Walmart pet shops. Start small, be consistent and by September you will up there with the big boys.

guppy-maki: yum yum

Actually, the number would appear to be just a bit larger (nine confirmed and two more that will be there but might be late arriving on the 25th). I'm assuming Anders is in on the sushi. In looking at the list there are a few other folks that I know will be in on Sushi *IF* they plan to be in the ditch on the 25th (like k-man).

I'm pretty much planning on their being enough folks. And, as is typcial, the closer we get to the deadline the more folks well get. OF course there are those folks that lust looooove to sign up after the deadline so who knows how big this will get.

Others I am pretty sure would be in on sushi due to past interest:

Matt
A. Crowley
healyje
kuan (a maybe in attending)

what do ya'll's have to say? when are you arriving?

Edit: In reviewing this thread it looks like others expressed interest:
Zander is in?
sttzo - you at least had ideas on how I should pull this off - does that mean you are in on sushi?
Fishy and wife?
Mike. and Moria?

And then there are the folks on the list that don't seem to pay enough attention to ST to get a yay or a nay either way, like:
K. Smith
and a few others.

Maybe between Ken, Anders and myself we could ask the "list" as it would be easier to know early. I certianly will entertain the idea of having a bit of extra stuffs for walk-ups but with the price of Big Eye being what it is I probalby won't allot for more than 3-5 walk-ups.

That said, if anyone does email me please include your taco nick (I'm sure most would have w/o me asking)
