Nothing to be suspicious of Tami you wouldn't know me from any other smelly climber,
just a long time fan of your work.

By the way, Gary wants one of those disposable avalanche poodles for the museum,
would go well with Malcom's big toe and Simon Yates knife, or so he says.

BTW, Tami, Daryl Hatten's daughter started a thread here for funny stories about her dad, that got a huge response, lots of photos, etc. You might want to add something to that. Do a forum search of Daryl Hatten's daughter, or something.

Hi Tami,

Just another anonymous huge (170 lbs) fan of your stuff. To me, you've always sort of been the "Gary Larson on Crack of the Climbing World." You totally nail it! You've got that perfect combination of having your finger on the pulse of climbing and popular culture, and the eye and pen to express it in hilariously irreverant ways. Keep doing what you do best!

Yeah, she's funny. Sort of. Sometimes. At least when she's not talking about my underwear.

Largo says, "Tami Knight RULES the world. Always has." But he was probably talking about the world of climbing, and climbing 'toons. What he doesn't know is that she also rules the world of "Naked Snowstorm Trampolining." Which somehow never made it into a cartoon.

Tami sez: That was hallucy-nashins from drinkin' straight from the bottle of cough syrup."

and "Oh,oh....I gotta hide.......here comes the retort."

Ain't no retort possible. The last few hours of that drive were pretty much straight out of Hallucination Central. Do you remember how sick I was the next day? If I hadn't medicated myself with what was left in the bottle (after you got through with it) I probably wouldn't have survived.

And anyway, once you're a decade or so removed from it, what's the difference between what you hallucinated and what you think you really saw? We agree on the fact that lying in the hot tub with the bottle floating between us saved us both from death, right? But the rest of it, well, who knows. What's in my memory is you flying high into the storm, and then the snow on the trampoline flying up when you came back down. Indelibility of image is not related to source. Once sufficient time passes, fever dream vs reality is irrelevant argument.

But one thing for sure is that Steve G is dead wrong about this being an exhibition sport for the Winter Olympics. Unbridled passion on the curling rink is one thing. Naked snowstorm trampolining is quite another. Children and religious people are allowed to watch the Winter Olympics, and there's no way they are capable of dealing with what I saw that night. No way.

It is long past time for the Extreme Olympics, to meet the demands of the bloodthirsty and short attention span audience on cable! Curling would be right out but full conditions naked trampolining has huge potential along with some other sleepers like avalanche polo! Could be a real barn burner....hmmmm.

I think I picked up my dog-eared, mouldy and encrusted copy of Vol. 2 of the history of Coast Range climbin in a equally, mouldy, encrusted second hand book store in the Rockies refuge for Aussie/Kiwi climbers looking for pinnacles above 300 ft ASL.
The bookstore owner was happy to move the merchandise and he claimed no knowledge of the origins of the various bodily secretions which had annointed this legendary offering. He suggested that it had been most likely salvaged from a bivie crack high up on Mt Robson concident with a downturn in the resident sheep population or that a longely ACMG -aspirant had
a life changing vision and peddled it in a bout of confessional
exorcism.

But how can we of the older and wisened generation rest well at Knight when we know that all of the newbies are hitting the crags
without having absorbed the salient beta contained between the covers of Vol. 1. Hey, the frikin Beatles just released a bunch of albums and the record companies have a Brinks traffic jam outside their buildings. A huge new release of the collected works of TK, stints on Littermun. the dude who just bonked his head, listed on Oprahs book list - the uptake would be endless and the dough would be rolling in - movie rites even - a feature on the scandolous early Squeamish days - rabid avalanche poodles -- the east coast Trailer Park Boys
would wilt with the competition. Syndication, cable TV - TK would go intergalactic. Forget the T-shirts - we are talking
major retro Squamsish stylin in New Yuk, Gayest Paree, - this could be really big. Jeans, down jackets, toques, (okay we'll label them beanies for the language challenged lads down under), ear muffs, seal-skin apres wear, felt insoles, gum boots, - a entire fall, winter, spring and summer line-up.

Or at least Alpinist could get creative and do a special "insert" retro pub to boost subscriptions. Their people need to talk with her people (Mighty Hiker) and work out the deal - otherwise I will have to plan another foray into sin city of the Rockies and try and ferret out where the Kiwis
dumped Vol. 1 - and that is serious stuff - last time I went lookin for a little Rockies guidebook I had lent one of the deep under bros - I stumbled into a whole freaking mob(Kiwis) of them in an very seedy Canmore condo - they were piled in the place worse than El Kidahs in an Afghani cave. There was probably meat for three vols of cartoons in that insurgent calamity. It was dark, it was odourious, their was tuffs of wool everywhere and
a couple of mangled ice picks. I beat a hasty retreat and never did get my guidebook back - maybe just as well - no tellin what it could have passed on - maybe worse than H1N1C1 (the Maple Leaf Virus).

Anyways, time to launch the movement for a Banff Mountain Festival Special Literary Award to recognize the special route TK has carved out in the climbin world. Or we rename the Sea to Sky Highway as the Tami Knight Squamish Parkyway. Hrrkky Hrkk ,Hrkk !

I recently purchased a bunch of Tami's books from her directly and they are brilliant. Maybe she'll post here the current availability, so others can order. The spoof of Everest climbing is timeless and funnier now than ever, in light of recent events.

The poodle as a object of loathing for climbers is a common theme. For example, there is the "Poodle Smasher" area in Joshua tree, along with dozens of derogatory poodle route names in Randy's JT guide. Some think it is too hard on the breed: consider the JT route, "Poodles are People, Too." The phenomenon is international in scope and probably deserves a scholarly article.

Hey Tam, sorry I haven't got back to you on that movie deal from 2009... It seems that former star from Starsky and Hutch TV show disappeard with the money and left us with $23Gs in hotel and limo bills. BUT, no worries. I've got this deal coming together with Fritz and his concept for a Donini film. We're going to need story boards and your style, particularly with the little rat creatures, is perfect for the project. Again, the budget is low and the cash is supposed to be coming but I do have this 1-1/2 year old bottle of Scotch, well, it's not actually Scotch but it kind of tastes like Scotch. Actually, I think is was made Colville. Anyhow, wait right there by the phone, I'll be calling any day now with the final deal.
