After many months of anticipation, I am happy to let you know that the National Geographic Channel will be airing "Secret Yosemite" at 10 pm tonight, Monday, April 23rd. Future airings include Friday, April 27th, at 10pm and Sunday, the 29th, at 5pm. Part of this will feature me (Chris Mac) belaying Lincoln Else climbing The Nose.

Here is the NGC website promoting our National Parks series.

Cool stuff!

I liked the "please don't move" comment in the chimney.

Will the actual show be as engaging as the trailer? Unfortunately I'll have to miss this. Still haven't bought a TV. Trying to pay for the computer.

I didn't see any secrets.

They didn't show Mr. Way's secret bivy cave.

Just watched a chunk of it...it's on again 10pm MST (which is same as PDT, I believe). Some good climbing footage and other nice video panoramas of the park.

Just watched it too. I can see why Texas flake is there - still don't know why Boot flake is!

Chris should've been leading - that other guy took forever....

Thanks for the well wishes, I'm just trying to figure out how to upload images, think I've got it now. Unfortunately I have some sad news that I'm starting a new thread about. Need to get this down first.

Best,
Phil

Included is an image from an old ascent of E. Buttress of El Cap for testing purposes...

Tuned in to the late showing, but it was after my bedtime and I soon dozed off. I used to think NG was the shizzle but then I saw what they did with some stuff I knew about and the bubble burst for me. It seemed from what I saw last night that the intent was to string the viewer along with segments of yet another el cap ascent intersperced with more pedestrian interpretive material.

Was I wrong? Should I try to catch this again?

Good stuff!!

I caught the last 1/2 hour. I'll have to record the next airing.

I liked the combination of geology/climbing/biology. Like the image of glaciers retreating and then columns falling off El Cap leaving the Great Roof, very cool.

Was that footage of the Glacier Point Apron rockfall real or animation? I'd never seen it. Pretty amazing.

"Lincoln Else is taking on one of the most difficult and dangerous rock climbs in the world- to the summit of El Capitahn"

as Link fires the Pine Line.

I had to stop. The most portentous narration I've ever heard...makes a genuine natural wonder seem like a joke.

Appreciate the post up.

Yer right on the narration. An factually wrong: "the parks tallest granite peak" I mean, wtf?
