Rescueing a great thread . . .

Greg Cameron (aka Eeyonkee, Grug), Poway Mountaineer extraordinaire, giving beta away to Levy from 20', since he has "Greg's Climb" dialed (the climb is also known as "Cricket"):

Ok, who took the photo of Rick Piggot and the other Poway Mountaineers near Jaws? It sure would be nice to see that shot (hint, hint, hint). Agent 13 (Rita), was that you or was it another? I thought it was Agent 13. Perhaps it was Rick's better half???

Edit: Yep, see below several posts, Munge has pointed out that my memory is not worth doo-doo. It is true. The climb was named Cricket's Chimney. I can't remember why I can't remember stuff like that. I do now recall being told that. Where does it all go?? It's a mystery.

Uh, oh. I see the makings of a conspiracy happening here. All of us who saw Rick are now Tin-foil hatters (lol).

Now I'm starting to doubt myself. Perhaps it was just a dream?

heh

Klimmer, I think Tom said they called it "Cricket's Chimney" because "Cricket," at the time, had climbed it when he was 11 years old. At the size of 11 yo, no problem turning an ow into a squeeze chim.

Piggott was there. He wasn't a phantom X of my imagination. We talked about the religion, flowers, and break dancing. He specifically asked me to send love and kisses bvb's way.

edit - thanks for the clarification on Long's, gonamok.

Hello, Agent 13 here, I'm off restriction! I really should have known not to push the power button off on the new digital camera when the red light was flashing because that deletes the recently taken photos sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!!! Also posting pictures is making a monkey of me. I weigh a 115#, but I'm pretty sure I could whip Bill Gates in arm wrestling. Sorry for posting late, but we had to finish our roll of film and wait for processing. Photobucket had to change the process to upload for xp users and now I have to be confused all over again. Meanwhile here is The Invisible man and a unidentified X. Ag13

Alright Agent 13! Hey, I wasn't dreamin after-all.

BVB, are you satisfied yet? Perhaps Phantom X should have held up the front page of the SD Onion . . . oops . . . I mean Union, with the cover page and date clearly exposed? I mean you know, Phantom X, Rick P., and Agent 13 could have met up and done this on another day right??? No, wait a minute, Rick could have been Photoshopped in! That's it.

I don't know what its gonna take to convince bvb???

(Actually, I think BVB is just pissed, or maybe just jeolous. But since he got to send all the hard problems, it is just karma that those of us who didn't got to meet/see "The Poway Mountaineer" who could send them all and even via 3rd class!)

Now, you guys could of hung out for 20 minutes longer at Jaws and we wouldn't have to be trying to convince ya all. But noooooo, just couldn't wait. Had to go send problems.

:-))

Levy is using a chicken wing at that point, which is actually
what Grug is talking about. Grug said he did it with armbars.
I was trying armbars as they felt better than a chickenwing but then I got spit out a bit lower than Levy's position. Eric had just climbed it but Grug and I walked up when he was above the
crux, so this was Grug's first chance to ever see anybody fire
the crux. I'm pretty sure Levy said it was his first try. The audience was quiet, with regards to Beta or heckling.

Nice picture of Rick and Kinley. Them's my first two main climbing partners. Turns out, Rick was better but Kinley was funnier.

edit - If only Kinley would have applied himself to climbing hard instead of being the class clown...

I'll post up to keep my favorite thread near the top, even though I didn't get to
be there for the big fete. The porters zapped eyeballs had him confined to house
for a couple of days and I didn't have the heart to leave him. Amanda had an
appointment at a wedding salon to try on dresses (the most overblown restrictive
industry there is-don't get me started, but anyway they had my go-to partner
hostage on april 28th).

I was bummed that I wasn't got to get to meet my personal heros BVB
and gone amok

Late the following wednesday afternoon Amanda and I dragged ourselves:
Off the Couch and up the Hill...

There was a lot of whinging about how fat and out of shape we were.
We have a lot of mottos but "Too fat to sport climb" is a popular one for us.
("Sac up and rack up" and "boys: sometimes wrong never uncertain" "
are others, but those are stories for another time).
I proclaimed I was looking for my off the couch limit. I was so far on the couch I was
under the cushions with the spare chnage and the popcorn kernels.
I was expecting to hang like the drapes.

Here is 'Manda- for a cute little blonde chik she is the second most un-photogentic
person in the world and I am kinda of a lame photographer.

we started at this cute girly dihedral-Childrens book AKA Milkbar. :

After that we hit the triangular boulders above baby robbins -I think it's called the
Klettergarten but I'm not really sure. we did 3 or 4 there (no pics, sorry)

Then Amanda ran a few on Baby Robbins, (while I hit a few of the other near by no name cracks).
Here's 'manda on BR:

Next we went over to another of my faves- Girls Climb, no pics, because its in the
bushes and hard to get a shot of.

Im Very Brave on top rope + I hadn't hit my off the couch limit. It was getting close
to dark, so there was just time to try one more time; so we headed to:

You'll probably note all the chalk all over 'er..wonder how that got there.
Then I had one of those moments where you hear the angels singing in the
background..the kind of "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" sorry no climbing picture,
so you'll have to take my word. here is me (the most unphotogentic person in the
world) looking all thrilled because I sent 'er off the couch.

See I'm so thrilled there is a flower growing out of my head.
So how long do I have to be on the couch before I can officially off the couch
something again? I was digging the off the couch thing.

Thanks for the great report. You seem to have had a good day.
I wish I'd been shown that Milk Bar thingie.
You were one of the people I was really looking forward to
meeting, so there was a little disappointment. However, I got
to meet JKV and he wasn't even supposed to be there.
The big heartwarming surprise for me was the number of people I
met whom I didn't know I wanted to meet, but turned out to be
someone I Really Wanted To Meet.
I'm sorry you couldn't make it to the Shindig.
There were lots and lots of giggles.
Chiffon off the couch!!!

NO FUKKIN' WAY is that piggot. i speak from hard won experince here folks...if he tried to stretch his lips even into that half-hearted smile, his face would crack...plus everytime i tried to get a close-up of him, he slapped me around then made me solo multiple laps on the train while he threw rocks at me...
