Lots of new aliases with wierd symbols and backwards letters. Strange. I feel like I can trust someone with a completely anonymous name, like A.Crowley, Locker, or something like that. But I just can't trust some Prince looking symbol or name with letters facing the wrong direction. Did I somehow cross over into an alternate universe last week or something?

I sense disgust bordering on revulsion.

Too much superfluous BS?

Guess my hives started up again seeing them and Ed Hartouni's thread about temporary email addresses. If the people using aliases would be more responsible on here, it wouldn't be such an issue. I think BS we can all handle.

Until the ST crew decides they care whether folks are manufacturing endless aliases for the same IP address we'll be saddled by cluelessness which I mind less then the fact that the majority of those posts inane and boorish.

if you want to make symbols, look at this URL: http://www.digitalmediaminute.com/reference/entity/index.php

I'm all for full knowledge... what you do with the knowledge is up to the society you live in... the xhtml entities allow for a fuller text representation on the web. You can make the correct "typesetting" conventions in your text, emdashes and the like, and correct symbols. This is empowering... you can do it on ST Forum inputs if you know how... as the space of symbol avatars has shown. But the good of it is to remind us all that these same annoyances can be used for good... I wouldn't restrict the STForum from allowing these symbols...

here are a list from http://www.w3.org/2000/07/8378/xhtml/entities/entities.axml

note that you simply type the ampersand and the pound and enter the decimal code to get a character... here is an extended table:
