There are so many who don't want to do the FB page, and time is coming close for ST's farewell. I went and started a discussion forum, linked above, in the hopes that it can become some sort of continuum for the people here.

I tried to keep it a bit familiar, but also added some separations which hopefully will help those who hated the mishmoshness that was the "soup" in Supertopo.

Will it go? I don't know - we'll see. If it does, I will definitely need some help with moderating and strategizing on development. If it doesn't - well, at least we tried.

Too lazy to hot spot to my computer every time I think.

Gonna check it out though just to see...

Happy- the backpackers forum I hang on is hosted by freeforums. Works great, totally member funded and moderated. Been around for 10 years or so.

Don't worry. Try later. Guess we all hit it at once. Freeforums is pretty reliable but has it's problems at times. They are generally resolved fairly quicly.

Easy to register and easy to use. I'm going to pay attention to it.

On another note, I was trying to upload an avatar/photo and learned that Flickr is down for maintenance right now. But it seemed very easy to do.

Hope you are well, Happie !!

One of my grateful pleasures, since I was away from ST these years, has been following the burgeoning of your artistic talent and effort. As you know, I love your jewelry: the wire work, the geology of the stones and of course the final polished product.
magnificent art and travel .

Cheers to you, Happie

Good luck with the forum--always a long shot that these things will take off, but who knows, it was probably a long shot that ST itself took off the way it did.

So far this is the best of alternative sites, I'm in. I don't like the separations, I'm a fan of the "soup" model, but what the hey. Clean and direct guidelines on moderation are appreciated though. I had no problem registering.
Thanks Happie, job well done!

I think I figured out how to post pictures on Happie's new forum

when you hit reply there is a clickable tab at the upper right

and from there choose attachment and pick one from your puter

however the picture displayed is thumbnail sized

so hopefully happy will find out how to upsize the picture

Well - it's off to a start!

I will give it a while to see what happens, but if it continues to grow, will absolutely need to have help with it. I don't even have access to the net some days and my online time is pretty packed with jewelry stuff. Although there won't be more Supertopo time, and that can be transferred, it already feels more like an obligation that just TacoSurfing and posting whenever someone gets me riled..haha

I will work on a "Guidelines" thread, and will also ask if there are other Categories/Boards people would like to see. I too like the altogetherness of Supertopo threads, but do see how that was annoying for some. I don't want to see Taco Salad become as segmented as, say, MP, but could see people might like to have something like "Other Outdoor Rec" broken down into a few categories rather than all inclusive.

It's cool that so many are willing to give this a shot. Speaks for how much a community Supertopo really has been, even with our occasional dust-ups.

I'll do my best to manage this site, though I am interested to see what Burnin' Vernon(?) comes up with. As I said - if the forum he builds is great, I would expect people will head over there. But I guess we have to see what he comes up with.
