I find it's an art. In fact I find fixing all my climbing gear meditative. I was sitting at the picnic table yesterday evening fixing 4 of them. You need some specialty tools but it's not all that hard just patience and a good hardware store.
Anyway just a musing...

Nice! Best way to do it - taking responsibility for your own gear. And getting a deep connection to it too.

Never done it. Re-triggering doesn't seem that difficult, but if they need a new trigger they probably need a new sling. Not something I want to do.

Blue weed-whipper cord. Melt ends to make blobs that won’t slip through the lobe holes

I don't remember the gauge wire. I bought it sorta in bulk. My experience is in the length and the swage size is more important. If the swage is too big it "catches" when retracting. I guess if you were a sponsored 5.14d climber you wouldn't have to think about this.
I'm just a DIY guy who is a little frugal.
Cheers!

I've been re-triggering my cams for many years. If you need a small supply of thin stainless wire rope and ferrules search ebay. You can order direct from China. Takes about 3 weeks to arrive.
I like the idea about weed eater string. Probably would work great.
If you want to not break so many trigger wires then handle your rack more carefully. Especially when removing the rack from a pack, don't just jerk it out. That crumples the trigger wires, which is not good.
I've rewired stoppers a lot too. Make sure to use only copper ferrules. Aluminum can tear if loaded sideways. Crimp the middle of the ferrule first. Flip the ferrule over to crimp the ends, and to get an even spread of the ferrule. Measure the ferrule with calipers to make sure you've created the proper spread of the ferrule. Easy.

3/64th stainless 7x7 wire rope is what I use, with tin plated copper swages.

Used to have a business doing it on Friends. My tools were tipped off though. Not especially difficult, easier than say, resoling

I need to do this as my 25 year old cams are great but the stainless bailing wire that I had been using is stiff and doesn't let the individual lobes adjust independently to fit the shape of the crack (it's a bad/cheap fix I know). What swager/crimper do you recommend?
PS: I'll try the weed eater cord first and report back. Great idea.

My swage is two plates with bolts you tighten with a wrench. Swaging Tool (1/16", 3/32", 1/8") Cable Industrial Scientific. I did a quick search and saw one on ebay for $35. I can't seem to link it here.

^^^^ I think you need to take it apart. While you do that take a few photos. Save the scraps and head to a hardware store. Taking it apart will help you understand how its put together, etc. Like I said above I just like fixing my gear and its meditative.
If you can't find a solution just send it to Spain. At least you gave it a shot. I think you will figure it out.
Cheers!!
