Gorilla tape to thick. Won't mould to your work surface. I have good normal duct tape wrapped around my ski poles for emergencies. I would never try to fix a leaky roof with duct tape. Try ice and water or the stretch tape that we use to install Windows. A better approach is to find the actual leak and silicon it.

check out self fusing silicon tape.
stretchy, no goopy backside, doesn't stick to the target, or stuff along the way,
just itself - and boy does it ever. have yet to try it on spurts,
but no more drooling ... and the MUSTACHE STAYS.

Not even useful on ducts.

Storm proofed and dust tented hundreds of projucts, there's no way in hell regular duct tape is even close to Gorilla Tape. I'm thinking all your stuff must be coated in a light film of grease.

I agree that tape is for temporary applications and Gorilla glue sucks- Tight Bond all the way and powdered resin for the tough projects.

Now Gorilla Glue-4, Sativa blend with hints of Indica from the Diesel Strain is the sh!t!

Well, I’ll agree with your last paragraph, but I’ve been “studying “ for a “test” for my dream job for the last couple months, and honestly, it’s refreshing. Probably never going back.

Ok, a great trick for dust and water proofing a remodel project for long term and heavy work- Pre-spray the plastic and wall with 3M Exterior Grade Contact Spray Adhesive, let it tack up then tape the plastic shield up. Of course you'll need to paint the wall after removing. Install an access zipper in the plastic shield the same way, using the spray adhesive.

Smart move! I quit for 15 years to start a family and business plus coached youth and high School sports with my wife for a decade or so. Never missed it.

Kids are grown up so occasional toke for me is just like an occasional glass of Chianti.

Good luck on the job!

Thanks man.

Crazy thing is, I was always scared I would lose interest/ability on my guitars but it turns out the opposite is true and I’m crushing it. Go figure.

I have had gaffers tape in the past. great stuff! I am so unimpressed with Gorilla tape that if someone gave me a roll I would most likely pass it on...

Going on 4 years now
And, I will be honest ,I hate a petrochemical temporary product that seems to actually have value, there ,I feel better.

Treez,I hear you about guitars.Tight Bond for sure.Try cleaning with Acetone or clear pvc primer, you will have a hard time removing.

I wouldn't necessarily call silicon crap.

I can't stand the smell or trying to keep the smallest drop from contaminating my whole damn hand, but have you ever tried to remove it?

That stuff ain't coming off.

I foolishly used some to secure some hand made Mexican tiles in a form for some concrete backsplash I was pouring. What a nightmare. I even googled "how to remove silicon caulk". Answer: "you're screwed numbnuts". Needs to be scraped off with a blade, but there will always be residue. Nothing dissolves it.

I still use it sometimes as a flexible adhesive where moisture will be an issue and appearance around the edges won't be, like ensuring that small triangles of siding in a gable won't fall off and face fastening is problematic.

Denatured alcohol works to tame silicone, wouldn’t apply it without, you can mist the bead and smooth it with your finger like latex, makes it look a lot better. However, IMO, if your window needs caulk so it won’t leak, you probably installed it wrong - poorly flashed.

The problem I have with Gorilla Glue is that I open it up, fresh, to use it for the first time but when I go back to use it a month or two later it has completely cured inside the bottle.

Plus it foams out the sides durint the curing process.

Schnee Morehead permathane is used to glaze large panels of glass on skyscrapers and commercial applications with no flashing. A very important component of this product it that it has less solvent than other products and wont eat through jiffy seal or protecto wrap. It's also paintable.

They pump the stuff into 1/2 gaps so there's enough volume to expand and contract without cracking apart.

It’s really weak when it fills a gap. It foams up and makes it difficult to see the seam or if the location needs a little more glue or if the clamps are set right, etc. It basically just makes a mess for no additional tangible value over a normal wood glue.

Hmmm …..need to get some pics for the super topo hook up thread : man that one should get some legs . Keep looking at this topic though and thought it was about the CLEAR gorilla tape. The duct tape copy is not malleable enough for my liking. I use duct tape in my work probably more than anyone??????? Taping and untapping hoses to machines for floor sanding. The gorilla tape blows for that x10 : too stiff. As someone mentioned earlier, Nashua. You know about Nashua ? It's CHEAP ! but it also really thin and sticky. Another thing we all know or should is the temperature of the tape. Lay that roll out in the sun and try to keep it from sticking to anything!

Getting back on track ……..the clear gorilla tape is bad ass. Surprised I'm the first to mention that. It's like rubbery clear 2 inch packing tape.
