Happy Saint Paddy's day to all.
Get your green on, have some corn beef
and cabbage, try and catch a leprechaun.
Shamrock and a har-sheshar to all.

Here's a joke that I've always attributed to the Clancy Brothers, although that's certainly wrong. The version I heard is meant to be two brothers from Cape Breton, but here they're Newfies:

These two newfies are building a house. One of them is putting on the siding. He picks up a nail, hammers it in. Picks up another nail, throws it away. Picks up a nail, hammers it in. Picks up another, throws it away. This goes on for a while, and finally his friend comes over and asks him why he is throwing half of the nails away.

He replies, "Those ones were pointed on the wrong end." The buddy gets exasperated and says "You idiot, those nails are for the other side of the house!"

Telling it, you go big for the punchline, giving your broadest Cape Breton accent, "Geese b'y half these nails got de hed on the wrang end" "Tahmmy ya idiotte, those nails.."

hey there say, ... a good 'pactrick day' ... or, rather
a good 'patty' day... as:

i just went to see my friend patty, after her hand surgery, :)

she was home, and doing well, but, hand won't be well for a while, still...

her husband used to play the bagpipes on these days, until he had a stroke...

thus-- her grown kids brought over 'corned beef and cabbage'

my dad's mom, being irish--gallagher, never made that (far i know) ... :)

happy good day, to all!

This is a holiday that has changed much during my time here in nyc.

When I arrived here in the 70s, it was a day of massive drunkenness, pieeing, vomiting, pretty much all over Manhattan.

I got on the subway then, a staggering drunk gets on, a wavering finger points at me, in an Irish accent "It's the Black Irish". My friends screamed at the lulz. A few days later I saw my Mom, "Mom. what's the Black Irish".

But now, it's a low key affair, there were even cheers for the cops.

I'm latino and even I got
into the Irish spirit of
the day.

The story of St.Patrick is
both compelling and interesting.

Krahmes- you have to check out John Oliver’s video of Hannity telling that same joke about 2 dozen times. Geraldo’s reactions are fricking hilarious.

It’s in the most recent show

//The story of St.Patrick is

In my brother's telling of it ....

Guy gets captured, enslaved, & spends six years in misery on top of a mountain minding sheep.

Eventually sees his chance, legs it & heads for home.

Where he plots his revenge. Comes back with a wacky story about a guy on a cross & a guy in Rome & founds a local version of the cult, enslaving women & kicking off 1500 years (more or less) of Irishmen killing each other.

Granted, there are other versions, & this isn't the one I was thought in school.
