did i miss a link (or, have i seen mts, within other threads and trip-report, that i forgot about?) ...
hope to see some sharing on these
albanian alps... or, any mountains, of this 'unique spot' ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prokletije
SCROLL DOWN... THEY LIST A LOT-- and show some pics...
thanks all...
small quote:
Prokletije (Serbian Cyrillic: Проклетије, pronounced [prɔklɛ̌tijɛ]; Albanian: Bjeshkët e Nemuna; both translated as "cursed mountains"), also known as the Albanian Alps (Alpet Shqiptare) and the Accursed Mountains, is a mountain range on the western Balkan peninsula, extending from northern Albania to Kosovo[a] and eastern Montenegro. Its peak in Albania, Maja Jezercë at 2,694 m (8,839 ft), is the highest point, and the 2nd highest peak in Albania and the highest in the entire Dinaric Alps.
Both the highest peak in Montenegro, Zla Kolata at 2,534 m (8,314 ft) (which is also partially in Albania) and the highest in Kosovo, Gjeravica at 2,656 m (8,714 ft), are here. The highest peak in Albania, however, is Mount Korab, part of the Korab range, at 2,764 m (9,068 ft) high and in the east of the country on the border with the Republic of Macedonia (making it Macedonia's highest point in addition).
The southernmost glaciers in Europe were recently[when?] discovered in the Albanian part of the range.[1] The regional economy is based mainly on agriculture, emigrant remittances and tourism.

I went there in June of 2016 with Slovenian Luka Krajnc and a Brit Jon Bracey. Spent about 10 days tooling around the southern area doing some sports climbing with Steph and Arnaud Petit and then Luka and John and I went north. We then climbed two routes on Maja Harapit. Rock was better than we expected. It wasn't exactly Ceuse but better than the Rockies...
Wonderful country and I'd definitely go back. The ski touring would be amazing in the mountains!
