I've been trying to figure out a way to to put these in words but I can't figure out how.

I don't know how to explain to family or friends that I'm going to try to master something that might kill me. (not in those words) But I have learned everything I could to do this. Or learn this.

So here we go...examples...

Class V, Grade VI, Paragliding, etc,....

If, after another 20 posts or so, you still want help Or need more words that help to describe your plan to find ways to tell Loved ones that you are going to die, I will be more than happy to help you.

It is bothersome for sure to see the way that one's own solo newroute (and attempt) expeditions put the burr and gall of lived-through trauma and PTSD back into loved ones.

The best I've got was when my folks and I sat down with our friend, a mega social/sexual trauma survivor, a self described death doula, to drink tea and coffee and talk about her discovery of ayahuasca church....They all understood right there the fact and truth and value of my solo climbing vision quests in what other people consider insane conditions/settings to be a clean and viable temple or monasticism of one, of sorts, not so dissimilar to the ayahuasca church (cult?) ceremony and sacrament currently getting religious protections from the f*#king DEA (hint: it is ok w the state bc they use Xtian nomenclature, male control and wear white robes and say the word Jesus)

I'm sorry we were talking whitebread. here is the answer: a permit! use your printer Skywalker. It requires little force, in fact minimal physical force is best.

edit: hope you done writ up some no kids nomenspeak on this whole midlife contract thing.

Best ways to make living dangerous...too much smoking, drug use, drinking and not enough exercise and being happy doing whatever it is that rings your bell even if what you are doing appears dangerous to others.

The most common form of this delusion is the assumption of binary choice between (insert high risk dumbassedry here) and being a complete brain dead couch potato.

Our current cultural conditioning eulogizes extreme (blank). We are conditioned to feel inferior eg cosmetic plastic surgery.

Little, if any, value is placed on contentment/contemplation; hence, compulsive, obsessive, and (self)destructive behavior.

Children do imitate modeled behavior; this is a fact.

Many of us, incl myself, are screwed up from the go. Go figure.

Just don't take it personally, the Cosmos is doing just fine.

BTW you are an adult, you don't need to explain anything to anyone, do you?

when others gave the 'take care now' line my mum used to counter with 'dont take care, take risks. because with too much risk may make you dead, but too much care will make you boring and thats a life wasted'.

at 70 she still goes to places like tajikistan, mongolia and serbia and gets involved.

Everyone dies, that's just the facts. Not everyone lives the life they truly want to live because that takes real courage. Living is just a dangerous business to be in anyway you slice it, so you might as well do it with as much panache as you can muster.

Go for it!

Donini +1.

Hey, they'll never understand. Tell them a nice story instead.

It's said that one should never attempt to teach a pig how to fly. It's useless, and it only pisses off the pig.

I read a story somewhere where this female paraglider pilot landed on a metal fence-post - kind of cured me of the desire to fly.

^^^ Yes its not for everyone.

Well I got kinda got worked on this post. I was simply reflecting on my family members and some friends who do what they do. That's fine.

I just think that a lot of things can happen to you, weird things.

Sorry for the formatting, never had that happen.

Anyways..

Cheers!

after years of haranguing ...

my old man drained the piñata:
"whatdaya think you're charmed?"

for a punk, i gave it fair consideration.

decided life itself is PURE charm,
so i had to answer, hell yes i do!

seems that mostly did me in ...
don't stick no badges on lucky.

now i still hang it out there,
but just a bit. and without

that's a great nugget Hooblie. Thanks.

And kingtut, I sure have had some differences of opinion with you, but I want to communicate my respect and admiration for the folks that stand and take the inevitable PTSD that comes from helping keep critically physically broken people in this world alive. This includes the folks that aren't at the high end of the pay scale in the ER or the OR. Anyone belittling folks "cleaning bedpans" oughtta go empty one using their mouth.

Some folks like smoking. Some folks like drinking. Some folks like climbing.

Lots of folks like to judge other folks liking the things they like. Go figure. May the slowest death win? If that’s what some folks like - go for it! - my judgment of their likes is probably irrelevant, except to me.

as promised
if you do do what the words say you do
then I want to give you some words for those times
When you are searching for what to say

Words to give to the flat land safe street-walkers.
Some words for when you have only crickets to offer
in response to the loving concerns of those who love you and do not
can not understand why you do what you do
Words that replace the rational answers
When it is not undue concern that has driven a well-meaning question and answer session off the rails:

Biting At the Apple, All The Way Through, Till the Core is Gone

Twice Bitten thrice shy?

Not this guy sir climbs a lot
it is a cold slow death but we yearn for it

To live for as long as we can and fight for every breath
We go go go, and then Go Slow Go Slow Go Slow

Then we pees our selves
Still trying to get to go more more more
what for? why for?

in the very likely case, there is no more
Sir Climbs a Lot

slowed to near stopping till
just hoping to the john
means we can't rides a bikes for want or not

We dread the long years that come after
and pray that they might come after

Knowing that if they come, with limping or not
That, that afterlife,
the pace of normal overtaken by

that it means we will go on,
It means we were the lucky ones,
living in our memories of the heights,
Having to go on, so slow

Twice Bitten thrice shy
Not this guy sir climbs a lot

it is a cold slow death but we yearn for it
slowed to near stopping till
just hoping to the john
is a thrill, I'm; alive
I'm still alive

Growing so old
broke down
And when it means we can't rides a bikes for want or not
We still wants to live and live well
And, Well?
live well a lot

What to say to others to justify the way one lives
Going for it , getting after it
always challenging safety
As safely as we can

What to say to those and any who
-the ones who loves you a lot-
