Who exactly needs this? And why won't a double gear sling work just as well, if not better? See if you can figure out how it is used before you click on the link - I was baffled.

Like the old Forrest Pin Bin, but perhaps not as well designed.

Erik, you old fuddy duddy, you just need to get with climbing in the 21st Century.

Stoppers? Cams? Gear slings? Like soooo last century.

I was once like you. Neanderthal climber. Tied to the past. And then, wandering around Seoul one day early this century, I saw...

Which led me to think, okay, this guy is rapping into a ladies fashion store... yeah... but he is rapping, so he must be a climber... So maybe there's a climbing store here somewhere...

And, indeed, there was.

Although maybe "climbing store" isn't quite the right descriptor. But whatever it was, when I went inside I saw this...

Yes, a Kong Frog.

Changed my life. No more pitons, nuts, stoppers, cams, or any of that old-fashion sh#t. From that day on, I understood the real meaning of climbing. Which, to put it in terms that the rabble on ST can understand, is simply: What is the easiest way to clip the next bolt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kong has made real sh#t before. Products that mainstream climbers (yes that means you) have never heard of before. Don’t know what this one is about but maybe something.

Are these the same people who make my dog's Kong chew toys?

She loves them, especially if you put peanut butter inside.

And how does that thing fit on the Owl in the first place?

If they had one with a sparkly or rainbow finish I'd get it.

Check out this Kong De-Jump beastie... a rap device with a little "quick release" lever/button. "Kill me now knob"...

For example the GIGI made by Kong, for years was the best alpinists' choice for auto lock, hard climbing, frozen ropes, etc. and still a "go to" piece for many in that field.

I remember using a much simpler (and much lighter weight)version in the late '60s/very early '70s--possibly the Forrest model. Unfortunately the thin metal 'gate' broke mid-pitch on a climb in the Tetons and we lost about half our rack. Needless to say, I didn't get a replacement. The Frog, on the other hand, is not a bad idea at all--especially for us short folks particularly on routes that were bolted by those with certain different genetic characteristics.

there's a big vertical world out there with actual problems to be accessed.

scampering about on twinkle toes in our provincial rocky niche, minimal doodads attached,
sets us up nicely to rain chuckles down upon the clumsy proletariat
struggling to execute burdensome tasks for a common wage

I’m still kinda confused.

Is it just to hold extra gear, sorta like adding another gear loop between gear loops on a harness?

If so it’s not the worst idea I guess.

The Gipsy looks cool. The video is from 2011 & I have never seen one ever.

Have to go check some gear reviews...
