This is the issue with Spiderman Dan Goodwin on the cover! Sensational, no?
Yes, friends, he's soloing Mickey's Beach Crack – RIP. (The climb is deceased, not the man!)

Yeah, so I just want to know which year and month is ascribed to this issue twelve of ROCK & ICE.

Sure, I could e-mail Duane Raleigh or something, but I just thought first I'd try you folks. (More fun that way.) Their website, when searching back issues, shows no listing.
It's not in Clint Cummins' database. I think because it predates 1987 by a couple-three years. https://web.stanford.edu/~clint/magindex/index.htm

That issue is January/February 1986
The Dan Goodwin article is called Romancing the Stone, written by his girlfriend.

Thanks, Klaus.
Yeah, Romancing the Stone, Anne-Marie Weber – TKO images.

I'm in the phone book! Yes, I think they still exist and I am in it: landline ho!

Of course I should have put "SPIDER DAN cover shot" in the title of this thread.
Missed opportunity!

I tried to on-sight lead Mickey's Beach crack once, and Jim Thornburg was in position with a camera and everything.
Little did he know I wasn't up to it. I melted off of the thing and fell onto the gear.

That was that. I had Jimi Hendrix blasting from a tape deck and everything. My belayer, Jane Klein, had just met me and she thought she was in for a real show. Real show of nothing: ha!

Jim said: When you fell off you were so stoic?
Yeah, and mildly embarrassed. That was that. I guess Jim took my gear out after I lowered off.

Buster-

I know the editor of Rock & Ice. You probably do as well. If you want I'll see if I can get a copy sent to you. No guarantees; I owe you for the posters you sent to me.

No worries, John!
I just needed to know the publishing date.

Though a copy might be nice, because both my buddies Dan Goodwin and Ray Olson are featured in the magazine.

And you don't owe me a thing for that poster! Remember that awesome handmade wind chime you sent over? I love that thing! Thanks again!
