…man... you’d have to be a special kind of stupid to think you’re “winning” when you sign a letter like that...
Yeah, you and I see it that way.
But don’t make the mistake of thinking that “…special kind of stupid” matters to his supporters.
It’s hard to hide how utterly immoral he is. And how he uses fear constantly, instead of trying to alleviate it. Hatred? Check, he uses that as a normal, everyday tool. Corruption? Utterly. This president may literally be the most corrupt in American history.
But it doesn’t matter. To his “base,” he’s THEIR lying, cheating, dumb and utterly immoral con-man. THEIRS. He’s “ON THEIR SIDE.”
Emotion, not logic.
Human nature.

You guys ate it up when Pelosi trolled Trump. Then when Trump responds in kind, he's trashed.
Political leaning determines what's offensive. Is that hypocrisy?

Probably, to some degree. But it's also about damn time that the 'leaning' that's been going on for the last two years with Republicans in the WH, Senate and HoR received a little 'leaning' back the other direction for a while.

"Class was in session this morning! I was thrilled to offer some insights on Twitter and social media to my. colleagues this morning," Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter, where she has 2.4 million followers.
"Now Majority @WhipClyburn is teaching me what all the bells mean in the Capitol," she added, tagging Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.).
This can't seriously mean she was actually teaching these guys about what a 'selfie' is, was she?

apogee, my beef with pelosi is that she wants to take an overseas trip. She does not need to go, especially during a government shutdown. She played right into trump's hands.

I have a hard time giving him any credit for having foresight about the events of the last few days. The guy is nothing but a thin-skinned reactionary.

Jody, am I safe to assume you are as much of a Pelosi-hater as the seemingly vast majority of Trump voters?
What is it about her that creates so much hate? Does she have a corruption record, or is it simply the fact she’s been effective as Speaker in pushing an agenda you don’t like?

How does that play into Trump’s hands? the optics are not good. she bitches about trump not agreeing to open the government, yet she wants to leave town. she, nor any politician should leave town.

I can say something similar about McConnell, but at the same time I have a lot of respect for his effectiveness in pushing his agenda, even if it’s somewhat Machiavellian.

Except that this trip has been in the works for several weeks now. I’m sure she considered the blowback that Trump would do something childish like that, but the optics of him being so petulant, at the cost of goodwill related to Afghanistan, was likely worth the price. That’s my guess, anyway.

Except that this trip has been in the works for several weeks now.
Several weeks? The shutdown has been going on for almost fours. Pelosi played a key role in making it happen.
She brought the trip cancellation on herself.
Pelosi and Schumer have been completely uncooperative on any deals involving increasing border walls/fences. This is a complete flip from their support of previous legislation to expand border fences. This drama isn't about illegal immigration. It's about sticking it to Trump.
