Allergic to sunflower seeds! I used to run a mouthful of coffee beans... nowadays I sometimes do pistacios but have to spit the shells into the outfield... damn shells are big enough to cause a bad hop in the infield

that would be the 4-1 Mariners.

If they go on to win the World Series, Ichiro will get a ring as he was a part of the 2019 club.

Couldn't shoot free throws though.

Still he's number one!

Right down the road apiece at Sweetwater Dam

Then again I have made mistakes before

Just back from Anaheim Stadium. The Angels can't suck enough so far this year. Matt Harvey looked awful. Mike Trout is something else entirely. Nice catch in center. Also made a strong throw from center for an out at the plate. And a homerun, even though they really weren't pitching to him.

Cubs bullpin, should be renamed...bullschit! They need to understand their job is to END an inning not PROLONG it. Pulling Dharvish(sp) after 70 pitches only to have bullpin load bases, then clear them with a double. Had to turn the game off and cuss Russ!
Peace

The Red Sox recent visit to Oakland proves that although they are defending champs, they are slow learners... Athletics CF Ramon Laureano and his thunderbolt of a right arm hosed down THREE Red Sox baserunners in one series, including Mookie Betts at third base in the last game of the series with nobody out in the 9th inning of a game the Sox were behind by 4 runs. That's just plain dumb.

The Mookie failed to absorb the hard lesson of his teammate Xander Bogaerts.

Laureano had thrown out Bogaerts at third base in the ninth inning of the second game of the four gamer. (A perfect one-hopper into Matt Chapman's glove.) At least the circumstances we're quite so horrible, one out in the 9th with the Rox facing a 1-0 deficit.

But still. Bogaerts himself should have known better, because Laureano had chopped him down at the plate in the second inning of the opener with a 270-foot perfecto.

Which I would say is the best throw I've seen Laureano make except that it isn't—the 300-odd footer from the left centerfield fence back to first base to complete a double play he made last year holds that distinction.

Robbie Grossman gunned out another Sox baserunner trying to get a legs double.

Four critical outs on the base paths in one series. I can't remember another set in which outfield assists decisively affected the outcome of so many games.

I love the Cubs as Russ does! Old joke with me and the old rubber arm....that at least still puts on the cleats and gets his glove dirty. Madden will get the pin in proper order. Ya gotta take the good with bad if ya root for the Cubs.
Peace

Crouch, Bo Jackson made heck of a throw to gun a guy at home back a bit ago. Harold had already touched third, rounding hard for home, Bo picks the ball up in the left field corner and guns a strike to the catcher. Clemente was another you’d be crazy to test.

Greg, don’t see a lotta ballers coming outta CalTech.
I ascribe it to arrogance and lack of discipline.

naw, they just don't play well in the Coliseum and especially night games there... but they have had a very slow start, opening on the road (and still on the road until next Tuesday) hasn't been good for them. The A's fielders had to be perfect on those throws, and they were... good on them.

I did see the Tuesday game, and they had opportunities in the last four innings to get the runner on third to score in a 1 run game... they didn't.

Still hoping that there is an A's BoSox playoff series in the future...

That Bo Jackson throw was pretty great, no doubt.

Here's Laureano's from last year. Make sure you watch long enough to see the view from the left centerfield camera. (starting at 24 seconds)

Bogaerts himself should have known better...

that play was reviewed (a long review) and not enough evidence to overturn the call on the field...

Ed, safe or out by hairsbreadth replay review doesn't change the fact of the throw, so yes, he should have known better. The call at third wasn't controversial.
