On Fox Sports now. Interesting stuff but seems to be pretty abusive of the desert environment.
F*#king amazing riding though.
Check it out! Those riders have big balls!
edit: It's like extreme skiing on mountain bikes.

I watched it on the Red Bull channel this fall. I've been to the venues, the environmental footprint is pretty moderate-natural erosion rates are high on the incredibly steep lines those guys are riding.
The events are actually a little bit tamer than they were a few years ago, with more emphasis put on flow and line creativity than height and distance after a series of serious accidents put the event in jeopardy.

As I watched it and saw the runs that was kinda the conclusion I came to.
In a hundred years there will be little evidence of the sh#t the riders and helpers did. Just wonder if they do any post competition remediation?
It was a good watch and was impressed by the stuff the riders pulled off.

Balls doesn't begin to describe it.... Those who ride know these guys are on a different plane.
Kinda like being pretty good at BMX type freestyle and then seeing Danny McAskill for the first time....

These riders totally blow my mind! I used to be impressed by a BMXer pulling a nice flat “table top”, lol. Silver is right, for a few years there, the danger and commitment of the lines was progressing so fast that it looked like someone was going to take a dirt nap.

First time I've seen this kind of riding. Looked like there was plenty of opportunity for a lot of pain.

No matter how much travel those shocks have, I'd think they would need to be overhauled after each ride.

Check out the "Hard Line" a notorious course in Whales. Skip to 9:25 for a rider's perspective on this horrifying course. Then, you'll have a better appreciation for what these riders can do!

If I clear a 20' double I'm stoked... That 60+ foot one at the end they make look like a hop....

On my cleanups these days I seem to find an inordinate numbers of Red Bull cans.
What is it about their culture that breeds so many litterbugs?
Even their 10,000 meter ad has a guy summiting to a snowman with a discarded Red Bull can on it.

The ability to clear gaps really impresses me, whether on boards, bike, or motorcycle. There is an element of commitment that freaks me out. The rider can’t hesitate in the slightest, or very bad things will happen. (Flips and aerials of course only increase the all-or-nothing nature of clearing the gap.) I watched a motocross race in which there was a huge set of three jumps in succession. Everyone was jumping them as doubles and a single, except for one guy... he was clearing the triples every lap! I don’t know how that dude rode a motorcycle with those huge balls.
When skiing a steep line or soloing a climb, you are committed, but at least you can slow down and be deliberate if need be. This Evil Knievel stuff is different.

Motocross bikes are totally different IMO... Riding MX I can adjust the nose attitude of my bike in the air with throttle/brake... If my rear end gets kicked high from a sharp lip on my MTB, I have no throttle to pin and bring the rear down...
Also the suspension on my MX bike is 4x better than my MTB bike...
But yeah, we all know there's that guy hitting the 105' triple over and over... I just stay clear in the slow old-man lane.

That Latino urban race looked insane. I will say though that his breathing rate was steady. My guess is his pulse was steady. Maybe at 130bpm?
Yikes!

Hey Toker, have you gone to one of the events? You must live pretty close.
I hear you about the culture that doesn’t seem to give a damn about the environment. I respect their skills immensely, but it turns me off when the first thing you see in a mountain bike movie is a bunch of trees getting chopped down so the Whistler “bros” can have a new DH run.

Fear, sounds like you know more than most folks about air time. I used to catch some decent air on a dirt bike at the dunes when I was young and dumb. I pretty much just hit it and hoped for the best.
