Thanks for posting this Steve. So, so sad. I met Chip and Monika in Cochise many years ago. I knew him only by reputation and, needless to say, was a little intimidated when he asked if I wanted to climb with him. It didn't last long thanks to his wit and humility. We got on The Great Gig in the Sky, a hard, tricky and a bit runout 5.11+. We were having such a good time I forgot to be scared.
The three of us shared many meals and small adventures over the following days. We talked about getting together in Eldo the following winter but it just didn't happen. Rarely have I been hit so hard by the loss of someone I spent so little time with. It speaks volumes to the quality of the man. Again, so, so sad.

I think over again my small adventures, my fears,
These small ones that seemed so big.
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.
And yet there is only one great thing,
The only thing.
To live to see the great day that dawns
And the light that fills the world.
