The Republicans have been guilty of massive gerrymandering. Proof? Look at state election results. In dozens of states, the Democrats got two-thirds of the vote, but the Republicans ended up with two-thirds of the state delegates.

Voting fraud? Look no further than the Republican party.

I would HOPE that Somebody is just trying to bait Cosmic, with the added twist of irony being that Cosmic was waggling his tongue about "telling" on a person about that GoFundMe thing. Agreed - to actually report someone, especially on a thing like this, means somebody(in general, not specifically) has too much time on their hands and needs a more constructive hobby.

yeah, except that cosmic 'outed' winemaker for what he thought was a fraudulent GoFundMe only days ago.

Similarly, there would be nothing false in Somebody's report. It would just be up to whomever gets the report to decide where his domicile is. Nothing false about it though.

Is it any kind of crime to have your pictures lifted from somewhere and then photoshopped and reposted elsewhere?

Maybe not...after all, this kind of stuff happens to political figures all the time. Remember when the Trump administration totally 'shopped the Jim Acosta incident and his hand movement?

If it's not illegal, it's at least pretty damn slimy and uncool.

The people search engines often know where you live. They give the general area. age. relatives, for free, and exact address for a fee.

I searched my name, and they have me nailed pretty well.

Some of us have a higher level of integrity than that and believe that laws should be enforced, particularly laws ensuring the integrity of our voting process.

No, I have no intention of just ignoring someone committing a felony. And no, "Cosmic" registering your vehicle in California by using a family or acquaintance address and claiming that as your domicile doesn't "prove" anything except that in addition to voter fraud you also are registering your car in the wrong state.

The prosecutor will look at the facts of the case. It's cute that you think the person making the report has any bearing on the facts of the case. You live in Las Vegas, it is your permanent home. You return to Las Vegas after working trips, as you have already stated. I believe you even showed us photos of your trailer park in Vegas. Of course you will have a chance to explain all this to the prosecutor, and "prove" your case. Unfortunately for you, a registration card won't be sufficient and all the evidence points toward felony voter fraud. A tip for you: Don't piss off the Surenos, they run the show inside.

What law is Cosmic allegedly violating? Take it from me, even as Supertopo's worst lawyer (or pretend lawyer, according to least one ST blowhard), I think most people would agree it's hard to say much about whether someone has "committed a felony" unless we know what the felony is, and what the state needs to prove to get a conviction (i.e., what are the "elements" of the crime).

Regarding "fraud" in general: you're not committing fraud if you just happen to be wrong about something or make a mistake, just like you're not lying if you merely happen to be wrong.

Perhaps there is some sort of California "voter fraud" law that doesn't require a normal "fraud" type of intent, but I'll believe it when I see it. Assuming "voter fraud" is akin to non-voter fraud, it seems farfetched to claim that Cosmic has committed fraud even if he may not be properly voting in CA, as he clearly believes he is properly voting there and his belief is based on some reasonable suppositions. (I have no idea whether he should be voting in CA or some other state. I do have some vague recollection from law school, if in fact I went there, that determining state citizenship can be tricky for people who spend a lot of time in two or more states, and to large extent they can decide which state they're a resident / citizen of. Have no idea how that may relate to the alleged "voter fraud" here, as again, I'm not sure what law has allegedly been broken.)

If we're going to play Internet cops and lawyers (terrible weather along the Front Range today, at least that's my excuse): is it actionable (civilly, not criminally) to accuse someone of committing a felony without any reasonable basis to believe it? I seem to recall something about defamation per se . . .

You can't sue an anonymous avatar for defamation.

I don't know that it makes sense to do it "in real life" in a situation like this. (Although I wouldn't put it past the blowhard who accuses me of being a fake lawyer and various other ST weirdos.)

But people do sue anonymous Internet posters. The file the lawsuit against "John Doe," then take discovery (subpoenas) against the various Internet entities that may have information (here, that would be Supertopo and the email service provider that handles the account the poster used with Supertopo).
Hard to say how it would play out in any particular case, but unless the poster really covered his tracks well, it might be possible to track him down with the assistance of some subpoenas.
