We were doing Moonlight Buttress when I started doing this due to all of the hanging belays, but I was wondering if anyone else does the same thing... If you have a belay seat or ledge with you it is not useful, but is better than a hanging...
So just clip your ladder into your anchor point and then clip in the bottom end of the ladder back into the same anchor point making a half decent seat for your belay...
Obviously need to be using ladders and not etriers to have this work effectively (I was doing it with some yates speed ladders).

I have done this with my old BD ladders several times when the ledge wasn't set up for standing.
It helps manage the perpetual discomfort.

I have always taken the waist strap off the piggy (whether I was hauling it or not), took off the buckles and tied webbing to each end and bam! you have a seat that is light weight, compact and can just be thrown into a back pack. Hope that makes sense. I use the one off my huge piggy even when not bringing it with me. Especially useful on Angles Landing etc.

yeah I second the using ladders to hang/sort gear at camp! We have strung them across to use as daisies.

I've used old-fashioned etriers and a belay seat in hanging belays since 1967. The two together at least allowed me to change the discomfort point periodically. Besides, as others noted, the provide lots of places to hang things while sorting.

Wow, Pete has really slimmed down his kit from the old days.
Looks like it all fits at one belay station now.
Ya kno, they have the encyclopedia brittanica in electronic version now, there is no need to bring the whole set wherever you go...
