"Reilly's point reinforces the title of the thread, which mentions "scene" not 'scenes,'" said Mr. Plaid.
Immediately, Mr. Pink yelled, "F*#k you, Plaid!"
And then he hauled out his Magnum and shot him twice in the chest.

That's value added because you can entertain your mind by counting scenes within the scenes... and push the stop button before anybody is shot. A happy ending is often to prefer...

Some strong showings. Here's one of mine. Need to have watched this and its predecessor to fully get the scene though. Tears my heart out every time.

Several scenes in Blazing Saddles are classics. And while I like Pacino in some movies, I find him annoying in Scent of a Woman...way overacting.

re: your effort to teach Marlow about singular versus plural.
Or, more accurately your error, to assume literacy amongst the readership,

HaHaHa - I wouldn’t presume to come it the grammatical pedagogue to Marlow on English,
especially in view of his magnanimous forebearance of my barneskol bokmål. And I sympathize
with Der Fuehrer - I manage to mumble something barely comprehensible to a Norwegian
and they come back at me with a machine gun reply. I just felt like screaming
ISN’T IT PAINFULLY OBVIOUS THAT I’M JUST DOING THIS FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT? DON’T MAKE IT WORSE BY BEING SO BLOODY POLITE!

After that... my guess is you'll never hear from him again.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
And like that...
he's gone.

Jim, you are correct about the comma.
the dialog in the clip you posted is many miles away from the supposed subtitles, not even close to the same conversation
but alas, that is German, not English... well almost German, Adolf had a slight accent.

Once again I politely have to agree with Reilly. Marlow's rude politeness is no joke. Then there's the hypotethical case in which Marlow might be a joker...
Which brings me to the best insult movie scene. There's an American way and there's an English way... Marlow find the English way a little overstated, but well done...

Marlow is unique and a steady hand on the helm. I value his objectivity.
Let's try using a much broader brush on this picture.
A bit of professional commentary can sway one's opinion on most similar issues. Why not in the cinema?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGlIfuWCdK4
I can answer that. Judgements like this are not really objective, only subjective. There is so much to compare objectively (lighting, acting, all the technical aspects, originality...it's a long list) that without awarding points for each category there is only how the whole of a work makes you feel in comparison to others of its like.

Subjective indeed (but not without some reason). My favorite scene from "The Deer Hunter" is when De Niro's character lets the buck go and screams "OK" at the roaring waterfall (Mouse's post).
Another best evah:

Not a best evah, but a good scene about how the way people interpret value in pop culture is a defining aspect of self-worth:

Marlow is on the mark with regard to Pulp Fiction's dance scene, one of the best in the movie.
It makes Vinnie very uncomfortable to be out with the boss' wife, but he still wants to look cool and his deadpan looks contrast with the smoothness of his moves--the same deadpan look he assumed when his partner went all AVENGING ANGEL in an earlier scene. This contrast makes for comedy. Tarantino plays a lot of situations in the movie for comedy, but this one happens to have no blood. But just wait a few...
Two great actors, Thurman and Travolta, a real 100% dyed-in-the-wool natural-born killer of a classic.

Some great picks.
Anybody see The Sand Pebbles?
The gunboat battle in the river still blows me away. Classic case of superior numbers almost over-running superior firepower. Steve McQueen wielding a Browning Automatic rifle, then taking an axe and cutting the bamboo cable (kills an attacker with the axe only to discover it was a kid he liked) and then with ultimate cool, nonchalantly hopping back onto the gunboat as it steams by.
It had to be one take.
Robert Wise was a great director.

Another is when McQueen has to shoot his assistant.
Also, when the Chinese make them sling arms.
I need to read that book, always meant to do so.

DMT. I saw The Longriders when I was young, definitely made an impression. Makes me want to check out more westerns of the same ilk, Peckinpah?
There was another scene I remember, horses going ass over tea kettle down a steep hill. It gave me an appreciation for stunt actors (nee stuntmen?, ha!)
It may be an invented memory. I remember something like this:

Last of the Mohicans was a great movie filmed in NC. My brother-in-law was one of many make-up artists on the set. Apparently actors were passing out left and right because of the stifling heat while wearing heavy wool uniforms.
Blues Brothers.... great music. Ksolem, I met Alan Rubin (Mr. Fabulous, trumpet player in the Blues Brothers) in NYC just after the movie came out. You'd appreciate that.
