Anyone ever have a stress fracture of the foot?
Turns out I've been climbing the last 3 weeks with stress fracture on my 3rd/4th metatarsals!
I see my regular surgeon on Tuesday to see what my fate is. I guess Yosemite this fall is a write off?
I am icing it, and took this weekend off. Any stories to share?
This sucks :(

Me? No.
My wife? That's one of the reasons she won't climb. Seems like she gets them all the time. Good luck.

Sorry to hear it Anita. I did have a stress fracture of my calcaneus once but it was so long ago I have no recollection of how long it took to heal. Etc. I think I was in a Walking boot for a while. But those metatarsal bones are probably more serious than mine was. Good luck and heal fast.

A friend stressed his 5th climbing in the gym. Shortly after he was freeing moves on the old bolt ladder on Balconies Regular route. He heard a crack and thought he broke a foothold, but it was his 5th that broke.
Lately he has taken up paragliding.
Another friend broke her 5th around the same time popping of the beginning of a new route. Last report I heard on her climbing was "She is crushing it".
Hope it heals up well Anita!

If this has been DX as a stress fracture....take time and STRESS off it 4-6 weeks, have another view taken to see if healing is happening. Stress fx can progress to full blown larger type fx or cuase other problems related to swelling, pressure or compensations. Unfortunately it's hard to relive stress on the foot. Walking boots or orthotics can help, but your doctor will be best to judge the plan of attack after a proper dx is made. Common injury in the leg or other repetative stress parts of the body.
Good luck

Well that sucks. I had a stress fracture near my ankle once. Hurt like a son of a bitch. It was finally casted for six weeks. No appreciable rehab after except to get it mobile again and gradually increase weight bearing.

You’ll probably be okay to go with your standard regimen of selfies, drinking and jugging pitches someone else leads. No jump rope or hopscotch.
I rocked a tib/fib fracture for a month in the middle of a big winter once. Skied hard during the day and used a cane a night time. Just a small bump on the shin to show for it.

I see my doc tomorrow for the full diagnosis.. it doesn't hurt all the time, but any kind of walking >5 mins or so and it hurts. Climbing hurts after a couple pitches. Derp.
F: you're a dickhead, but thanks for coming out.
