Bruce,
For sure, a thing worthy of posting

That this thread remains on the "front page", and stays high above"the fold" so to speak, means that it has been clicked on, many times.

Honestly, It is a hard story to comment on. I'm not one to speak on things alpine or big, never mind Himalayan! (Sxck Mixed, dicey front-pointing on dime edges, looked better than some of the iced up jams)

A gnome must gnow his limitations.

Have you danced with a dark devil, while death watched, high up at the edge of eternity under a cold pale moon ?

The fact that Conrad had a heart attack doesn't bode well for the rest of us.... A reminder to all that time is fleeting, choose wisely... even Gnomes.

I watched this last night on YouTube. The exposure gave me the heebie jeebies...and that dry tooling section was something else! I assume Conrad's ok these days, hadn't heard about his heart attack.

Could be any of us, no matter how healthy or in shape. Gotta do better at enjoying every day!

Both of them were recently interviewed about this on the Firn Line podcast.

I never saw anyone use ice tools as cam hooks in a crack before, that was cool. Looks like an amazing route, but I don't like to get cold, lol.

Xcon, the leashless part surprised me too. The other podcast I listened to had Tommy Caldwell talking about dropping a jumar and breaking the Nose speed record using one jumar and his hand as the other one.

Makes me want to puke. Retreating while having a heart attack sucks donkey balls.

Doesn't Conrad post here from time to time? It'd be nice to hear if he's ok...

Hair ball. Just watched it last night. It marks the end of an era with Conrad stepping down from high altitude climbing, after, what, 30 years in the arena? Amazing. Of course, he'll still climb, but I'm beginning to think he'll make it to old-man status. David Lama is amazing. Looks like he's got enough humility to survive--if he's lucky, which all survivors of high altitude climbing must be.

I'm sorry to post this unverified info, but just got news from Karakoram Club that David Lama, Hansjorg Auer and Jess Rosskelly caught in avalanche in Canada with no traces found after first day of rescue.
