Wow! Who here would have thought this thread would go over 1,000 posts.

Certainly not ATG, who wrote this in post #14 on this thread:

Lock this thread too.

Its another hateful echo chamber.

I was off the web & in the Idaho mountains, when we blew by 1,000 posts.

My sincere thanks to all the reasonable folks, who post good stuff here.

Here's a photo I took today, which demonstrates what happens to those who lean too-far to the right.

Its another hateful echo chamber.

Always amusing when one of the multiple conservatives here complains because they are outnumbered here vs. the likely many places in their lives they choose to spend time where their views are supported. It's not like there is only one conservative fighting the good fight. There's always multiple conservatives, multiple moderates, and yes a lot of progressives on these threads, but framing the discussion as the righteous me vs. all these far left kooks makes it easy to ignore other people's view and just keep trying to prove you are right (at least to your own mind).

To continue my post above: Trump has also decreased regulation which has helped boost the economy. Govt. often imposes new regulations in a knee jerk reactionary way and they end up being a burden. The problem is Trump frames all regulation as bad, when in fact many are important to protect people and common goods. We should do a better job reviewing existing regulations and modifying or tossing ones that don't have the desired effects or include too much red tape. But Trump et al are throwing out ones there to protect consumers, borrowers, investors, clean air and water, etc. I'm sure some they have gotten rid of some regulations that should have gone, but I suspect many are gone that protect the public for the benefit of large corporations and the very wealthy (often since they have the dollars/power to push for what they want).

the Fet; thanks for your thoughtful posts.

edit: and this:
"Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation," McRaven said of Trump.

"If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken. The criticism will continue until you become the leader we prayed you would be," he added.

^YES. We all are an us. Divide and conquer your own, a fine method for the oligarchild afraid of its own subjects (afraid of both sides he is).

I am so confused why others that benefit off the market for sitting on money find it endearing to talk about people that worked for some and then sat on it in this lifetime. Some kind of ancestor worship/imagined modern-day Horatio Alger incarnation?

I suppose I like the ideology when it's applied to fine new rock clamping finds. I've got mine so f*#k you. One thing is more finite than the other: aesthetic climbing rocks, money.

I imagine that few of us are in any sort of a position to have much insight as to whether retired, former government officials should retain security clearances.

I find the analysis in the following link persuasive regarding the reasoning for revoking Brennan's security clearance, namely, that Brennan is a "butthead" Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one--no security clearances for buttheads seems like a pretty good rule.

I would think you would think so----so long as YOU decided who is a Butthead!

I'm not so sure you would agree when it was the opposition to you who decided.

You either believe in free speech, or you don't. Apparently not.

The Gov't taking action against individuals expressing opinions is not something which has been done in thie country. Until now.

Not that surprising when you consider that about half of all African-Americans identify as conservatives.

The “somewhat-conservative” magazine, Military Times, reports that Trump’s parade will now cost 92 million dollars & that 89% of American polled oppose it.

Please, conservatives!

Speak up for your support of our President’s, very expensive folly???

President Donald Trump’s military parade is now estimated to cost $92 million, according to a U.S. defense official with firsthand knowledge of the assessment who spoke with CNBC.

The initial cost for the military parade was pegged at $12 million, with higher estimates still only putting the cost at $30 million. The parade’s price tag has been controversial, with supporters lauding it as an opportunity to pay formal respect to service members, while critics say there are better ways to spend the funds to help active duty and veterans alike.

A Military Times poll in February found that the vast majority of respondents oppose the idea of a parade. Almost 104,000 people voted, with the majority — 89 percent — saying the military has more important needs to address.

Trump’s inspiration for the parade came in part from his visit to Paris for France’s Bastille Day military parade alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

“It was a tremendous day, and to a large extent because of what I witnessed, we may do something like that on July 4 in Washington down Pennsylvania Avenue,” Trump said at the time, according to CNBC. “We’re going to have to try to top it, but we have a lot of planes going over and a lot of military might, and it was really a beautiful thing to see, and representatives from different wars and different uniforms."

Jody wants the nanny state to protect queer people's peckers. Again, curious.

Did Jody see the parade?

ATG? Per your Trump support?

Aside from tweeting and trusting sewerswamp rats, Trump is a badass gangster of a president and I would take a bullet for him.

Does that mean you are supporting his $92,000,000.00 million dollar parade?

I'll assume so, unless I hear different.

What a fine conservative you are.

I HATE socialism and I HATE ....

Well, you certainly made a bold statement as to hating quite a few persons in the world. I'm not a 'socialist' but I certainly am a libtard, whom you seem to hate as well. I guess Jesus allows you to love the transgendered but hate the liberal. Weird but oddly convenient.
