This Saturday I finally carve out time to stop by the post office and sign as requested for a delivery patiently waiting therein. Half-expecting the copy of my birth certificate applied for several months ago, I am somewhat taken aback by this:

Inspection of external documentation suggests that unless my mother was being deliberately obtuse as to my provenance, this is nicht mein' Papieren.

The postmistress laughed at my transportation; why, I couldn't tell.

But everything made it home safely and inside the hermetically-sealed transatlantic box of generosity were indeed two used rucks, although 'used' should be taken lightly as they are in pristine condition and each beautiful in its own way.

Many thanks, Marlow, for your kind offer. The Monarch is right at home with some other outdoor gear here, and makes me think of Norman Maclean and his tales of logging, fighting fires, and muleskinning a century ago.

I have a potential home for the lovely Millet, but if that falls through I will offer it up here and hope to pass on the good karma.

Marlow is the best. He has sent us a treasure of Norwegian culture and landscapes from modern times back to the Norsemen.

My daughter Sydney is traveling through Telemark, Lofoten and now staying near Kragerø for the next month. She and I looked all through Norwegian Woods this winter as she planned her trip to her parents, grandparents and great great greats' beloved homeland.

edit jei kan snakke litt norsk but not much anymore, (hang head shame shame shame)

Good to see the Monarch getting a home and being used as intended.
Cool MC. I can see that the package even had the right form.

Your Norwegian is good. When did you learn Norwegian and for how long did you use it?

Sydney has chosen the right time to visit Norway. She is seeing Norway from the sunny side. Even Lofoten is reported to stay clear of rain the next ten days.

The landscape of Telemark has a lot in common with the landscape of Finnskogen. Some Forest-Finns settled as far into Norway as the Eastern part of Telemark.

Marlow adds a lot of substance, and is fun to correspond with. I hope to meet him next year.

I really hope some day Marlow will take a 6 month road trip to the western US and Canada so we can all take turns climbing with him at our favorite areas.
