Hey, if anyone is in contact with SO CAL folks who knew Peater and might be interested in attending his memorial, please let them know about this thread. People who come to mind are DD (Diana) McCaul, Erik Erikson, Dave Evans, Craig Fry, Kevin Powell, Jim Wilson, Steve & Hoppy (Guy??), Chris Wegener, etc.
Thanks!

It’s open but way smoky. I was up there for a wedding this weekend and felt horrible about having the kids there the whole time.
Hope it clears out for Peater’s Memorial, he deserves that and much more.

Will definitely be there smoke or no smoke!
Jess says she is getting a Keg!
One time Peater stayed a few extra days in the Valley, he faked being sick so he didn’t need to go sew up portaledges.
WHY you ask?
Because the Keg at Ed’s still had beer left in it!
I helped him with the task, it took 2 days!
At least there might be some open camping in TM
See ya all

Yes, the Road (120) is open from the east with no restrictions. So looking forward to seeing whoever will brave the smoke. Yes, Peater does deserve it! And, no, I didn’t get a keg but I DID get beer, wine (Peater loved red wine if you recall) and snacks. 1:00pm tomorrow, the 10th, between Tenaya Beach and the parking area/restrooms for the beach. See you there!

I'm sorry that I am not going to make it but I just can't expose my lungs to that kind of smoke anymore. I hope everyone has some nice rememberences and enjoys themselves. I'll miss seeing some of you that I haven't seen in a long time but maybe next time.

Ironically, lung burning aside, I think Peater would have dug the alien looking landscape up there right now. I can just hear him comparing it to listening to the same song from different recordings.

Thoughts and prayers sent to Peater as I paddled Lake Eleanor a couple days ago. Lucky to share time with him in our youth.

Greetings All,
I wanted to send a few photos of Peater's memorial on the 10th. It was a splendid send off for Peater even though the Meadows was wracked with smoke from the fire. Nonetheless, some hardy souls made the trip to share some memories, some wine and food and to send our friend Peater off the way he deserves. The group included myself and D, Max & Rita VanBriesen, Mike and Ian Graham, Misa Giesey, Mike & Sue Pope, Alan Pietrasanta, Guy Keesee & Curtis & Joyce Van Briesen. A huge thank you to those who attended!
We circled up in the forest at the base of Fairview Dome and shared stories about Peater and I read a short piece I wrote. From there we hiked up the backside of Fairview and passed a bottle of wine around to toast Peater. He would've loved that of course! Then we took turns giving Peater's ashes up to the wind from the top of the dome. I read a Native American prayer for him. When everyone had taken a turn, we laid the remainder on a flat rock at the very edge and placed a heart shaped rock on top that Rita had found. The wind will gradually take Peater up into her fold and return him to the wellspring of Life.
I feel good about the day and I think Peater is pleased as well. I wanted to share it with the rest who were unable to make it. A million thanks to all those who donated to the GoFundMe account as well!!
Peace and keep in touch

So, I guess I'm not too versed in ST methods. Apparently you can only post one photo at a time so I'll post the others separately.
