I’m in Bishop, was thinking of heading into Clark Canyon tomorrow, but I heard that there were some controlled burns going on, and it might be smoky there. Any current info?
Thanks, Phyl

It was a little smokey this morning here in Bishop when I went for a mtn bike ride. Seems to have cleared. Clark should be a good call. When to Mammoth on Monday to climb, still lots of snow at the base of the Crags.

Thanks. We went to Benton Crags today. No smoke up there and beautiful temps.

There was some smoke over the Whites this morning then it cleared out.
Smoke is returning this afternoon over the Owens Valley.
Going climbing around Mammoth tomorrow, hope it stays clear.

No threat to public safety...? Other than breathing toxic smoke on the east side for 3 weeks...Put the fire out...

Very smoky in Mammoth yesterday- I was working at the Postpile Depo. It was actually worse in town because of the way the wind was blowing. Made it's way down to Bishop this morning. Had to dust off my inhaler. meh.
It's a remote lightning strike so the policy is to let it burn.

Coming down from Clyde Minaret on Saturday evening, Lions Fire:
As the report said, the winds changed overnight and by mid-morning the next day we were hiking out in haze:
It was pretty bad in Mammoth and you could detect the haze up in Tuolumne as well.

Forest Service screwed the pooch on this one...No fire containment plan for their controlled burn and didn't notify any of the other agency's about doing the burn...The controlled burn was started when the wind picked up...Way to go morons....

It’s all about the wind. Looking at the Crest from Horseshoe Lake today. Climbing was good as the wind helped. Pretty terrible in Bishop this morning and all the way into Mammoth. Got lucky with a pocket of clear sky.
