Charlotte was found lying unresponsive at the foot of a stairway in her Telluride home last night. It appears that she fell the length of the stairway.
Charlotte was an excellent climber and skier who climbed, I believe, her fifth 8,000 meter peak last year at age 60.
She was well known and beloved by many in the mountain communities of Aspen and Telluride. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

What the f...?

That's terrible news!

Had the pleasure of climbing with her at Smith for a day. And spent a little time socially as well. She was a lot of fun to be around. Very full of life.

What was her quote after giving Sandy the shot on Everest? "Oh, does that hurt? Good!"

I'm so sorry to hear this. Ugh.

Condolences to friends and family. She'll be missed. I'll miss her. Damn.

It just sucks. Charlotte was larger than life....a huge presence, with an even bigger heart.I'm in such shock, and feeling so gutted. I just so wish she could be granted a do-over of last night. :-(

What Pam said^.

Such a kind-hearted character and could slog up/down a mountain with the best of them. I love how present she was in conversation and truly was interested in what was happening in your life..from the mundane->adventures and everything in between. We'll miss you Foxy.

hey there say, donini... oh my, this is terrible... how very sad...

i have read of situations like this, though not often...

maybe they will learn more-- maybe it was a health issue that lead to the
fall... it is very sad to think that she die from her stairs... :(

prayers and concolences for her family and loved ones that will miss
her, now... and not be able to enjoy her...

Very Sad to read this! I believe she was one of the persons in the 'Into Thin Air' book on Everest. I climbed Snake Dike, on Half Dome with Reese Martin right before he passed away. He had fond words of her....

Lots of emotions surface when any of this great tribe leaves the community. Prayers and thoughts for grief healing to all loved ones, family and friends. May this process be a good one as the best of things are remembered about Charlotte's remarkable life.
