Here is a map showing the flows from yesterday. Last night it crossed the coastal highway in two spots and started flowing into the ocean.

The fissures that are putting out all the pa'hoe'hoe lava are all east of Leilani Estates and the flows have mostly been down hill thru very rural land and forest's.

Unless new fissures break out across Highway 132 , or closer to Kapoho, this is a pretty good path for the lava to keep taking without much damage.

The rift and the fissures are all in a very straight line, it is interesting to go on Google Earth and drag across to see the elevation's.

It seems any thing north of the rift should be safe.

So highway 137 is cut in the middle. If you are east of where it crossed the road , the only way to drive out is east to Kapoho then 132 west to Pahoa.

If you are on the west side of the flow, the one way out is highway 130 , that seems pretty safe for now, but it is the only road from there to Pahoa

Wow , looks like Kapoho is getting nailed.

Here is a map showing the lava flow , if you zoom in on the right side at the front of the flows you can see the layout of the streets. The flow is heading right for Vacation Land. The blue lines show the stream bed. They say the flow front is 500 yards wide.

(lowest elevation)going right thru it. There are close to 100 homes in that one subdivision.

Now here is a google map image so you can see whats being covered.

Here is a video from this morning showing the flow enter the ocean at Kapoho bay.
The video starts about 20 seconds in. You can see how many house are threatened on each side of where it is entering the bay. The flow is almost 1/2 mile wide.

They now say 117 houses have been destroyed,, could be a lot more in the next few hours and days.

A sad night for Kapoho and Vacation Land. Both were almost totally covered.
Compare the USGS map to the Google maps image. Well over 100 homes destroyed in 12 hours.

Every thing between the red lines lines is gone.
And the flow has moved into the ocean 0.7 miles.

A before and after photo.

The first was taken Sunday, June 3rd, as the lava approached. The yellow is Vacation Land , that is a lot of homes. Blue is the bay, before and after in the second photo , and red is the flow.

It pretty much wiped every thing out.
Not my photo's.

Before and after photos reveal a vast amount of land near Kapoho Bay now covered in lava.
