Good news; the democratic candidate for Orin Hatch's seat is daughter of climber, Ted Wilson.

Bad news; she is opposed by Mitt Romney.

The New Yorker has published an article about Katie:

https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/katie-hill-is-a-new-kind-of-california-democrat-can-she-help-flip-the-house

Thank you to all who have contributed and/or taken me up on the Joshua Tree guidebook offer. Found a few more copies, so am extending the offer. [See above for details].

done and done. Hearing about her opponent got me motivated. From the New Yorker article mentioned above.

Katie Hill, who is thirty and a Democrat, had declared her run for Knight’s seat a few weeks earlier, on International Women’s Day, part of a wave of young women seeking elective office. (Margaret Talbot wrote about these candidates here in April.) Soon, with support from Emily’s List and endorsements from celebrities like Kristen Bell (“My girl Katie is running for Congress”), Hill was giving speeches at “retirement parties” for Knight and pushing out the hashtag #FlipItBlue. Hill and her staff—“the most millennial campaign ever”—were featured in a two-part documentary on Vice News Tonight on HBO. In the run-up to the primary, held last Tuesday, Hill outraised Knight. Now, having defeated the better-known Democrat, a former corporate lawyer named Bryan Caforio, she will face off against Knight on the November ballot.

Not yet. I believe its the 26th of June. He is running TV ads...other than to just blow cash, I'm not sure why.

Even Ted says, "Mitt's a rock star".

He's a shoe in.

Race to watch for me in Utah is Ben McAdams v Mia Love. He got out in front of the new housing development west of Herriman (Olympia Hills) and vetoed it...we'll see where that ends up. He looks like he's 14...ha ha.

Okay, there are two contributors on for $150, which means Katie gets $300 and there is still $200 left in my checkbook. Any takers?

Received confirmation of $150 in contributions so far. I doubled the match and sent her $300. Still $200 to go.

That's the best political ad I've ever seen.

Just wait there will be one with an under age girl doing stand up paddleboard yoga with her rescue while drinking locally sourced kombucha, you may just sh#t your pants when that one drops

She seems pretty cool, I agree with just about every one of her stances. I think this is where candidates will be looking like in the future, ones raised in a more progressive atmosphere who think outside the box.

I don't give a sh#t if she can rock climb or how she looks, however. The 50+ club here can't help but hurr durr that there's a young blonde but hey I'm sure she doesn't mind the lech vote.

I hope yer right. I'm sick of the vast majority of politicians who could give a ratz ass about building America and instead use their positions to keep getting elected, feed their narccism and lining their personal $$$$ coffers. Im pretty much apolitical for our two party politicians; I hate them all with a few exceptions.

That is not news couch, that is a biased editorial written by someone who is backing the Republican.
