My WordPress website is hosted on GoDaddy. A while ago they sent me a notice that the site might be infected with malware. I installed the WordFence plugin, which seems to work well (Why are so many people from china trying to hack my little site which doesn't handle any $ transactions?) But I digress.
I just got a notification from WordFence that I'm using a version of PHP which will no longer be supported (V 5.2) They want me to upgrade to 5.6 or 5.7. I don't know sh*t about this. Is it my host that needs to do the upgrade or is it something internal to my Site?
I'll appreciate your knowledge,
Thanks!

Ideally, you want your software upgraded to these standards:
https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/
(php 7.2+, mariadb10+)
The stack that this stuff depends on is:
OS - operating system (probably linux in your case)
PHP - the language for rendering dynamic HTML content
MySQL or MariaDB - the database to hold the content used by your web application- for example WordPress posts, images, client preferences, etc.
WordPress - this is the web application
Different hosting environments give you access to different layers of this stack. Assuming you have a basic cheapie setup, you just have a web interface for uploading your content, maybe some skin files to customize how it looks, etc... In that case, it is totally up to your provider to resolve the problem you raised.
If you have access to a command line prompt, where you can run linux commands, it might be up to you to choose which version of PHP and mysql or mariadb that WordPress is using.
If you manage the entire server, and you have root access, it might be totally up to you to sort it out.
Good luck!

Ask GoDaddy customer support if they have multiple versions of PHP, MariaDB, and WordPress installed, and what you need to do to switch between them.
Maybe they have a web interface for you to select it, or maybe there is a command line sequence you need to type in from SSH terminal, or maybe they are just set at one version and you need to wait for them to upgrade.

Thanks. That's exactly what I need to know. I've just got an interface, a dashboard, for uploading and editing content. A guy made me a custom template with some bells and whistles. I'll take this up with GoDaddy.
Cheers
