Beautiful tribute, KeeZee . . . one of your best posts, evah!

The last time I saw Peater was when I did the music at Jess and Curtis's wedding . . . a long time ago. It was a stoker when he started posting up, here on TheTaco.

RoyBoyToy, TFPU, as well. . . nice stories!

SHOWER THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE WITH LOVE!

Peter Wilkening

Sitting in a little breakfast cafe
Thinking about Peter and what I might say

I remember him being a peculiar fellow
Somehow revealed by his first hello
With no worries underlying his ease
He was the classic definition of exceedingly mellow

Embellishing on words by both Roy and Kesey
Peter seemed the purist but generous to a fault
His demeanor both measured and nonjudgmental

He might have seen through someone like me
Craving only acceptance and someplace to be
Or more likely he had no conclusions
Caring only to share and to see of the world
What was within all itís hidden reflections

As casually he passed his pipe
The Yes music in the background playing
With visions of glistening feldspars
Swimming through a haze of monzonite seas
As if there were no other place to be

Thatís how I remember Peter
And what he meant to me

All... thank you for the support. Bushman... very nice.

Death is a weird thing, two days after Bob Kamps passed I had a personal message given to me that was quite real. It made me think about death and all that.

I took a long time getting to the Taco.... It was a difficult thing to accept and after I wrote it I felt better and went out to Stoney.

What do I see? A very rare motorbike....while doing my cricut, I found nobody walking around with a bike helmet and there were zero climbers... after my warm up I headed back to car to get ice-chest... bike was gone.

Just passing through.
Just passing through.

Hi my name is Kristina. I am one of Peater's younger sisters. I just found out about my brother's passing today (May 16th). A detective from SLC was trying to locate his family and finally came across some information that lead them to me in Washington. I was saddened by the death of my older brother. I have called my sister with the news but we have yet to tell my Mom. We don't want to tell her over the phone. My sister will go down to LA and let her know soon. She will be devastated. We have not had much contact with our brother....I think about 30 years now. It is good to see he had a lot of good friends. I really enjoyed all the nice things you said about him. All we knew was he was in Utah and worked for Black Diamond. Thank you all for all your kind words. Sounds like he was rich in friends and adventure. Thank you also for putting together the Go Fund Me site. He would have been so proud that he was so well taken care of by his friends. We will share all these stories with our Mom when we see her. Thank you again.

Thank you for your post, Kristina. I'm so sorry you just found out about Peater's passing.

In case you aren't familar with the Supertopo forum, you can login and read the posts Peater made at:

(click "Next 20 Forum Postings" at bottom right of the page )

and photos:

I just read some of the GoFundMe posts. So cool that Peater was one of the designers of the first Megamid - what a functional and easy to carry tent! It was integral to so much of what I did :-)

hey there say, oh my... kristina! oh my... :O

say, though awful sad, yes, you can be thankful that someone did find you,
to let you know...

i will really pray for your mom, so she can get through this, when
she hears the news...

in your corner... being a mom-- and being around many MANY moms, for years,
i know they need a lot of love around, at times like this...

may there be that, to cushion her...
thank you so much for sharing here, for everyone...

Sad news about Peter.

Somehow in the way back, he and used to hang out. Loves the guys spirit and warmth.

May his molecules disperse through the multiverses.

Hello kunlun_shan, neebee, Spencer Lennard and eKat,

Thank you all again for posting such nice things about Peter. Funny how through your posts we (my sister and I) can kind of 'see' Peter's past....what we have been missing for 30 plus years...what he was up to, what adventures he took, the kind of friends he had. It's a real treat to 'feel' him back in our lives again. Just a sad way to go about it. Is there a way to post more pictures of him. There were only a few posted on his profile page. We would love to see more of him. Thank you in advance if you can. I am sure my Mom would love to see some more current (and not so current) photos of him too.

Sad that Peater passed away. I worked with him for many years at BD and he was always the most patient and kind person you'd ever want to meet. He left BD a few years ago and retired, mostly hanging around his house and being chill. I should have tried harder to stay in touch. Adios amigo.

Gnome, I think Kernie is asking if *we* could post some more photos of Peater...I'm a noob to the sport so obv don't have any but certainly appreciate how we always celebrate the old guard around here-
