Interesting NY Times column about how the Christian Right and the Russian government have been finding common cause for a few years now. Many on the Christian right support Russia’s anti-lgbtq agenda, and view Russia as a bulwark against Islam. And of course, they are also quite comfortable with Russia’s authoritarianism.
Shortly after the Russian takeover of Crimea, I remember bluering voicing his support of the invasion and of Russia in general. It was a new idea for me at the time but apparently one that has been present in right wing circles for some time.

As a Christian I find the US religious/political groups more repelling than anything but extrme Islamic groups. Using religion as a weapon or for human control is so wrong, just like mixing religion and politics. Something ingrained in US republican politics. I cringe when Trump twists religion into his ethos etc. It should be a personal thing. Commercialized religion is no longer Christianity to me. Government should exist to protect freedom of personal worship, not take a side or relate with one group or another. I dislike the us flag in us churches and tying god or God into your government, pledges of allegiance or on your money. Which is anther reason i like Canada! The government protects me like Im a human, just like everyone else.

Everything is not A-OK down there.
Here is Stephen Miller, Trump's top White House advisor, throwing down his white supremacist hand sign at a press conference. The other photos show how the hand sign is intended to represent W-P, for White Power.
Trump says that he thinks it should have been obvious to his audience that when he said there was no Russian meddling, he really meant that there was Russian meddling.
And, therefore, it should be obvious to his audience that when Trump says that there was no collusion, he really means that there was collusion.
Anything Trump says has to be inverted before it makes any sense within the reality recognized by 7.2 billion people.
Trump lives in his own fantasy reality, which has little or no correspondence to the reality of the 7.2 billion.

Anyone else noted that the markets have been creeping upwards nicely these past few days?
Look, Trump is either an idiot or more-or-less pretends to be one for who knows what purpose, but none of it matters one rat's ass as long as the markets keep going up, it's as simple as that.
I'd prefer a more orthodox president I suppose, but I'd rather have a whack job and the economy buzzing along that a rational, predictable socialist who tanks the economy.
Sad that seems to be our choice these days.
