MB1! I am always somewhat in awe of your massive posts & obviously quick thinking.

Of course, I sometimes wonder where you derive your obvious energy & passion, but that is not for me to judge.

However, earlier tonight, you refuted my post of John McCain’s thoughts on our President’s childlike behavior at the Quebec G7 meeting.

John McCain does some pushback on Trump's loutish behavior at the Quebec G-7 meeting.
Trump's decision not to endorse the G7 communique brought pushback from some in the US, including Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, who broke with Trump on Twitter.

"To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values," McCain wrote. "Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn't."

My McCain quote obviously spurred your response:

So, McCain is speaking for American now? Does anybody think that McCain's opinions are relevant anymore?

Do you libs really endorse "globalization," which really means "American global empire"? How do you think that's going to come about if not for the ever-increasing ascendancy of the very mega-corps you claim to despise?

Ohhh, wait just a doggone minute. Is this the same McCain that you libs despised when he ran? The one that chose Palin as a running mate? The one you worried was so ultra-right that he (now like Trump) could cause an existential crisis?

Those "shared values"? You mean McCain's values?

Count me confused by strange bedfellows.

Or is your present argument something like, "Even that whack-job McCain can't stand how whacked out Trump is. Trump is whacked beyond even whacked."?

You mean the Party-endorsed McCain? Yeah, Trump is anything but Party-endorsed. But that couldn't have anything to do with McCain's present sour grapes, could it?

I must reply, that I believe John McCain is an American hero, & I was going to vote for him in 2008, until he picked Palin as a running mate.

The thought of an Evangelical Christian, who appeared to know almost nothing about world events, being a heart-beat away from being President. convinced me to vote for Obama & I never regretted that decision.

My respect for John McCain has grown with his well-deserved opposition to our “know-nothing” president.

McCain vs Trump?

An American hero versus an American coward, who somehow became President & covers his bad behavior by being a bully.

By the way MB1, I accept that all conservatives are not the same, & you lower yourself & your credibility, by posting that you think all liberals are the same.

ATG? I appreciate from a quick review of your 9 posts on ST, that you do have a climbing background.

However, many of us on this forum, have climbed, camped, drank, & talked with others that post here & know where they are combing from, when they post.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about you, except that you have been a climber & post that the Trump is a "wonderful-boss."

That is not nearly enough to make me support the bastard.

Fritz, I'm speaking in generalities rather than universalities.

Obviously on a thread like this, it's impossible to speak to every little detail with fine granularity.

Is that what we think we’re doing here? Trying to influence other people to believe what we believe?

Just FYI - that’s not what we’re doing here.

he is troll, Fritz

nobody is that shallow,

That’s the guy you choose to identify as an obvious troll, because his comments are shallow? Have you been reading this thread? If the idea that anyone could possibly be so supportive of Trump means that we need to immediately identify them as a disingenuous troll, in the face of the shallow self-confirming gibberish posted by many in opposition to Trump, why bother reading other people’s posts at all, unless we’re just trying to get off on the rightness of our own beliefs?

Again, your predictions are dismal failures.

Great point. And does that matter at all? We’re going to go on making dismal failures of predictions, because what we’re doing is, by and large, not trying to be objective, we’re just trying to validate our own subjective perspectives. Yes, those pointy horns are coming for me any day now.

It does not make me proud of Trump.

How about you folks?

I’m more embarrassed to be an American than I’ve ever been before. And I’d say the same about being a human.

And yet ... Best to y’all!

If you muck about reading the writers of the 18th century Englightenment, you'll find there are a fair number of them who voiced concerns about the dangers of mobocracy and enthusiasm. Democracy does contain some implicit dangers.

Madbolter and others, I consider myself a liberal, but just because I am, you are incorrect in writing that libs (like me) are in lockstep with the likes of the Clintons, Pelosi, the DNC, or any other “liberal” leftist whatever movement/party/organisation. I believe you have implied that, perhaps I read you wrong.

By pigeon holing liberals, you are using a narrow brush, (or is that a broad brush?) and doing exactly what you say the “other side” is doing. As for the whining, I do recall a lot of whining from the “right of centre” when Obama was elected, and of course the obstructionism of the Republicans, not compromise or consensus, but outright obstructionism.

Don’t take my word for it, the records of Congress are there to see.

Yes I despise (not hate, there is a difference) Trump, yes the system needs changed. Trump has been disruptive (though if not him, somebody else would have done it eventually, maybe somebody with more empathy and not just money-oriented, Hope Springs Eternal).

Disruption can be a good thing, or not so good, depending on how it is done and what it has achieved.

If some want to call me a libtard, I do not care, it is just a word. If some want to use a broad brush to tar me, big deal, I just want those people to know, they may be wrong.

On another note, whatever happens in Singapore, if either Trump and/or Kim receive a Nobel Peace Prize, it will just show a mockery of what that has become. In a BBC interview even Obama said he did not know why he received one, neither do I, what did he do to deserve such a "prize"?

Two examples IMO: If Kissinger received it (at least Le Duc Tho had the sense to decline it) and Aung San Suu Kyi (turning a blind eye to the Rohingya) as well, then it is a worthless prize.

Nobel is not noble.

And yes this thread has become an echo chamber, for both "sides", the libtards are just more vociferous than the rightards. I am a wingnut, you are a wingnut, let's all become wingnuts. A toast to the wingnuts in the world.

Can you guys photoshop Obama in all your funny screenshots and headlines, that way we can all be be brainwashed into talking about a Nobel Peace Prize and amazing Time Magazine covers.

There isn't anything Trump could do that would force you to live outside your brainwashed mainstream hate.
