"To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values," McCain wrote. "Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn't."

So, McCain is speaking for American now? Does anybody think that McCain's opinions are relevant anymore?

Do you libs really endorse "globalization," which really means "American global empire"? How do you think that's going to come about if not for the ever-increasing ascendancy of the very mega-corps you claim to despise?

Ohhh, wait just a doggone minute. Is this the same McCain that you libs despised when he ran? The one that chose Palin as a running mate? The one you worried was so ultra-right that he (now like Trump) could cause an existential crisis?

Those "shared values"? You mean McCain's values?

Count me confused by strange bedfellows.

Or is your present argument something like, "Even that whack-job McCain can't stand how whacked out Trump is. Trump is whacked beyond even whacked."?

You mean the Party-endorsed McCain? Yeah, Trump is anything but Party-endorsed. But that couldn't have anything to do with McCain's present sour grapes, could it?

Who knows? It's a straw that a grasping, helpless perspective can cling to as it circles the drain and learns NOTHING from its past arrogance and flagrant mistakes.

Pretty much everything you guys have predicted from three years ago, and counting, has failed to materialize. Let's see. Here's a VERY short list....

* Hillary will win, cannot lose, and it will be an electoral landslide.

Oops, that land slid the wrong way. It seems that the rest of the nation simply refused to be overpowered by the over-large populations of a few left-wing states. (Try to remember that it's a GOOD thing that we have a republic rather than a democracy.)

* Trump will not last 100 days and will be impeached before then.

Oops, that's not happening, and it's way past 100 days. LOL

BTW, how long could/should we expect the supposed "Querencia Phase" to last? I'm just curious if this clever turn of phrase actually explicates anything. Perhaps some bright bulb can illuminate how we'd know when the "Querencia Phase" is over, cuz it sure looks like Trump's here for the long haul.

* Stock market crash.

Oops. Typical blips, but ever climbing.

* Economic crisis. Recession. Depression.

Oops. If the lowest unemployment rate and fastest rate of job growth (among MANY other indicators of economic health) in 18 years is a "crisis," then I guess: bring it! I, for one, live for such "crisis." And that's contrary to what liberal rags, like Slate, assert without stats, that the participation rate is "way down, as people have just given up finding a job." In FACT, as of May the labor participation rate stands at 62.70, which is in line with the average from 1950 until the present, and WELL above the 1954 low of 58.10. Can we have more of this sort of crisis?

* War with N Korea. Possibly (likely) nuclear. Escalating into war with China.

Oops. Talks arrangements are proceeding, and N Korea has formally put on the table its willingness to entirely denuclearize. Sanctions working; bluff called. Maybe Trump's better informed and equipped to play this game than armchair quarterbacks and talking heads. Just a thought.

* Abandonment by the rest of the world.

Oops. Oh, crap, and then there was Brexit, Spain, Greece, the EU's quickly declining GDP and economic relevancy, etc.; now it looks like the EU is gonna need us more than ever. You think that S Korea and Japan are abandoning us? Canada?

* Absolute overthrow of the free press.

As if we have a free press now. LOL. Trump is just the first President in my lifetime that isn't running scared of your so-called "free" press. He calls it what it is, and you guys just FREAK. It is seriously hilarious. Oh wait. Any minute Trump is going to turn off the Internet because too many people say not-nice things about him there.

That's literally how ludicrous your hand-wringing predictions are.

Take a chill pill. Your "free" press should take one too.

You guys have such tunnel vision that from an outsider's point of view, occasionally looking in this thread for its sheer entertainment value (and wondering how long CMac is going to let the frothing-over continue), I stand in flat-out awe.

In my lifetime I have literally never heard such moaning and whining, epithets, and sheer raging hate as among the defeated libs now. While you rage and hate, advocate the President's violent death, call names and make vile associations about anybody who doesn't drink your particular flavor of Kool-Aid, and you now embrace McCain!, sane people around this nation watch and think, "Uh, THOSE idiots can never be allowed to gain power!"

Do you REALLY believe that "the story" is THAT the DNC got hacked rather than what the hacking REVEALED about DNC corruption? Do you really believe that mainstream America is so fixated on the former that, like you, they literally ignore the latter?

Do you REALLY believe that moderates and independents watch your behavior (with this thread being just one of many examples) and think, "Yeah! Trump IS a Nazi, and we have to put in power ANYBODY (like Hillary) that the Democratic party (corruptly) hands us next time."?

If you honestly think so, keep dreaming, but brace for impact. You guys and your heroes like Obama, Waters, Feinstein, and Pelosi are SO far left that "center" isn't even a distant, tiny speck on your horizons. And you've had about all the pendulum-swing you're gonna get.

Hey, I know what can help! Make GUN CONTROL the center of the upcoming Democratic platform! That's bound to gain you lots of traction in mainstream America.

Pffftttt.

With any administration, it's possible for the "other side" to find lots and lots to bash on. But, you know, objectively speaking, things are going pretty well. Its quite apparent that the sky isn't falling in any of the ways you have predicted. And we've survived other shitestorms in the WH, you know, like Bill Clinton. Trump wasn't the first, and he won't be the last. Corrupt parties (both of them) and human nature will ensure that.

Chill out; it's not an existential crisis.

Let's give him another six years and see how it goes. Waddaya say, guys?

;-)

And the Democrats still cannot seem to get their act together, though I hope I am wrong.

Finally, a spark of prescience among the libs on this thread.

But eventually the pendulum will swing back, and hopefully get stuck in the middle.

Given the "arch left" evidenced on this thread, t'aint likely.

America has become fundamentally factious and for one reason: The federal government was NEVER supposed to become ALL-powerful, yet it finally has.

Now, every election is "life or death" because it is so inordinately important that "people that think more or less like me" wield that ABSOLUTE and all-pervasive power!

Centrists, by definition don't think "enough like" anybody to garner the needed money and support. So the "edges" grow and grow and become more and more frothy and invested in the FIGHT! This thread is a perfect example.

It's human nature to want to control other people. The left and right have different control-priorities, but they are NOT about freedom. It's about power and control. Period.

Recognize that sick fact, realize that the United States CAN no longer be the "land of the free," and then you'll understand why each election from now on MUST become more and more corrupt and contentious, with more and more hand-wringing and violence from the losing party.

The center is nowhere to be had at this point. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think that we're sliding down a slippery slope anymore. I believe that we're nearing the bottom.

And BOTH parties believe that their version of the bottom is the high moral ground.

Nice posts, MB. I think what we’re seeing is the final devolvement of the two party system along the lines of your absolute power premise. At least parliamentary systems are forced to compromise although the Italians make a mockery of that.

Dirtbag, you’ve got better than that I would have hoped.

tRump is doing exactly what Uncle Puti told him to do. Break up the western alliances. Isolationism plays right into his plans. Any bets on Uncle Puti’s next “annexation”?

MB1 & Reilly?

I am curious when you look at this photo taken at the G7 by an Angela Merkel aide, if you see what I see?

I see a U.S. President, who is obviously showing very negative body language, with his crossed arms & defiant body posture, to world leaders we should be getting along with. But, I also sense so much more, from the attitude of others in the photo

Merkel is obviusly making a point, Abe is also showing crossed arms, but has overall relaxed body language, Bolton is also in a negative stance & clearly looks like he wants to say something.

It does not make me proud of Trump.

How about you folks?

I am glad you’re confident,lol

I'm not "confident." I'm simply not wringing-hands, frothing, stressed like you guys. No more than does one politard thread get shut down, and another springs up. You libs RULE these threads, and they end up as almost pure echo-chambers until they are again shut down.

You LIVE in false-dichotomies. Anybody not as distressed as you is "confident." Anybody who doesn't agree with you is a "racist," "misogynist," or "Nazi." For you guys, it's a zero-sum game: YOU win, or the world is coming to an end.

Again, your predictions are dismal failures. Should be a wake-up call. It's not. That should indicate that you're in a bubble. It doesn't. That should indicate....

Well, reasonable people get the point.

Regarding the above picture, imagine YOUR life was literally lived under the camera, where every instant could be a photo-op by your enemies to paint you in the worst light. Every INSTANT could be taken out of context to PAINT a caricature of you.

Either you bow and scrape to the relentless "free" press, or they bury you! What you're seeing with Trump is a guy who literally doesn't give a shite about that stupidity.

Would you like me to start posting unflattering pics of Obama? Hillary? Waters (that's too easy!)? How would you "see" those?

You read into these instant-in-time pics whatever you're looking for. And your lack of reliability (and that of your preferred media) SHOULD cause you to realize that you're not "seeing" very accurately!

If that table collapsed under it's obvious stress it would have sent Merkel's face straight into Trumps lap.

I think the guy on the left saw it coming. Killjoy.
