Needless to say in this context, it is brought up in an attempt to normalize Trump, which is to be derided.
In a way, perhaps. Trump is merely a distraction. If he gets too far out of line they'll do to him what they did to RFK and MLK 50 years ago.
If you get to be too much of a threat to the system you are dealt with. You get imprisoned like Eugene Debs. Lynched like Frank Little. Executed like Joe Hill. Obama certainly did not rock the boat, even though that's what he campaigned on during his first run.

well you could have fooled me, given the entire Republican party and media going absolutely ape sh#t over the Affordable Care Act and the guarantee of not being denied health insurance, the twenty million American expansion of Medicaid, etc
and on and on it went for eight years, with over 40 votes in the Republican House to repeal the ACA - but no, that certainly was not fulfilling a campaign promise that "rocked the boat"?

Norton, I know you paid attention to that election, you listened to Obama speak. He talked Hope and Change. He talked like he was going to be another FDR. It was going to be another New Deal. Hell, I voted for him. What did we get? Bush Light.
More war in the middle east. Guantanamo is still there. The Pentagon still rules. The oligarchs are getting richer and richer.
The ACA? What did it do but pump money into private insurance companies.
Please, tell me what Obama did that was so revolutionary, what shook the system?

By that time can I expect you to know what you are talking about with the ACA
because at this point I have to respectfully think that you are hugely uninformed.
Anyone, anyone, who has read even a very short 20 page summary of the ACA simply
could not in good conscious say what you just did above, that the ACA was nothing more than a money grab.
I will end by saying, that the "hope and change" that President Obama campaigned on was indeed delivered, big time, through the ACA.
And you would know that if you had paid attention since it was passed in 2010.
It is not my job to educate you as to the benefits that ten of millions of Americans have
gotten from the new health care bill, you can read and you know how to google.
So I will check back with you to discuss in depth each and every positive aspect of the ACA
and if you can convince me through your powerful intellect and depth of ACA knowledge that it did not deliver "hope and change" well then, Gary, congratulations in advance, ok? good night

Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk is resigning over a feud with U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.
Zinke thinks there are too many Bison in the park......because local ranchers are complaining that they're a danger to cattle.
Yellowstone biologists believe the 4,000 Bison are sustainable and pose no danger to cattle ranchers.
Wenk has forty years experience with the National Park Service. He was offered a transfer to Washington but declined feeling it was "punitive action".
