Maybe some of you have seen this but I am still laughing. And it's been over a day since I first saw it and I still laugh when I see it. I grew up with Lab mixes in Saranap (California), Ci (Lab/Border Collie, Wales to London to California to Ireland) and now Aggie (Lab/Border Collie).

Good one Patrick. I needed a smile today.
That yellow lab is a dead ringer for my yellow lab.

Thanks! Loved this. My own pup--blue heeler--was going all meth out on lizards and chipmunks today on our walk--a total crack up. Dogz are good.

Ghost, I regretfully concur about Irish Setters - prolly the dumbest dogs around.
Happily, there is some difference between them and two-legged Irish, most of the time.
OK, maybe not between 1800 and closing time.

That is a bit unfair about Irish Setters (not far from the truth though), Afghan Hounds have been considered dumber.

Regarding setters, I'm amazed that we managed to breed pointer dogs at all. One dog sees prey, faces toward it, raises one foot, and stops. Other members of its pack, seeing this, do the same thing.

Ha! I love pun jokes and always will.

On another note, the meth lab next to my parents' house blew up last year and burned their shed down that had a bunch of my childhood stuff in it. In other words, explosions are another good way of identifying a meth lab.

'Twas a fun neighborhood to grow up in!

This is a logo that Bus Eireann has been using for years.

But apparently in a photo shoot about bus upgrades (wifi, more leg room, etc) there was a stink about it as the Irish setter used was one born in England. Oh shame, scandalous, my knickers are in a twist.

hey there, say, patrick... oh my, :)

also-- interesting irish setter share, :)

i put one in my novels -- irish setter, though i never had one...

it just seemed to 'fit in' at the time...
so it fun, seeing all this irish setter stuff... :)

my patty ann marie, is a whippet-sharpei mix...
she's make an odd bus motto:

let's all:

race to a restaurant, eat... sleep...
race to the next, along the way--however, stop in the parking
lot all day-- and stare at locals...

then, start out again, just to --
(sharpei part)--> come to a crawl and check every bit of the road
for anything interesting...

then-- it's 'off to the races' again-- for another reststop...
and perhaps a snack...

oh my...

*edit: we think she has just enough 'lab' in her, to make her 'goofy'
and a great 'retriever' :))

True (Irish Setter) Story:

My brother had one, named Ganja.(yes, that Ganja)

One Mother's Day, I saw a picture article somewhere about making an Angel Food Cake, with pink marshmallow frosting, and little flowers made out of snips of marshmallows, dipped in pink decorating sugar. I SO wanted to make it for our mom, and so I set about it.

Now, I was taught the basics on baking and cooking, but I'll admit I don't care for details. Maybe the article didn't mention that the pan used for an Angel Food cake must be pristine; not so much as a speck of grease on it, but more likely I read that bit and disregarded the importance of the imformation.

So, my cake didn't raise very high at all It was maybe 2 inches tall, and I'm probably being generous. But I still wanted to finish it, so I made the frosting, and even though there was enough to frost a full grown Angel Food cake, I used it all up on my little half-story one. Then I added the marshmallow flowers, and it looked....pink. Pink, and heavy.

Yes, I was disappointed, but I knew mom would appreciate the effort, and with a dog named Ganja, that cake was going to get eaten by someone, when the munchies hit.

So, I left the cake on the kitchen counter and a while later, I heard, coming from that area....these groaning sounds....

"Uhhhhhhh.....sigh..... Mmmmmmuhhhhhh..."

I went into the kitchen to see what was going on, and there was our red Irish Setter, Ganja, laying on her side, looking a little peaked. Her snout was globbed full of the pink frosting, as were her paws, and there were about three chunks of the cake laying near her head.

She was practically in a sugar coma, and just lifted her head and looked at me with those sad Irish Setter eyes, and said "Uhhhhh....."

We have a yellow lab who has a fondness for avocados...so much so, we have found him up in our tree, picking them (the tree was tortured by the previous owners trimming practices, and has a trunk that turns parallel to the ground about four feet up).
He's always welcome at my brother in laws. At one of his Fourth of July parties, Otis was found eyes deep in a large bowl of Guacamole that was sitting on the dining room table.
