I am only 55 and 3/4s seems like breathing is good, pulse is not doing anything too crazy.. 4 days into it so probably too late for tami flue to be effective??? Its a messed up country we live in. Going to try and scedual a annual vet visit for hugo because I am too sick to climb or work but can't afford to get myself checked out on the bronz plan.....

passing out like black out? or just being hyperbolic? If the former, you need to see a doc or something cause that ain't good.

Hope the chimney gets cleared soon!

lot's of people die of influenza,

if you've got extreme symptoms (and it sounds like you do) don't mess around with it... seek a medical opinion (not a STForum opinion).

x2...

Last time I pissed myself I had Dengue... If you're passing out then it's time to get supportive care. Super low blood pressure or an extreme temperature could cause it.

Probably too late for Tamiflu if you're 4 days in. But they can culture you and get a better handle on what you might have.

just a dizzy fainting spell with some spinning etc. I have had extreme before. this sucks but not extreme. I had 106f once. that was extreme. people in the er ran around really slowly trying not to show that they were very concerned.. I know what 104 feels like and that is extreme. I would guess that I am peaking at 102 and change??? bag of frozen rice on my head right now...

just pissing myself due to bad aim and not much awareness. go take a pee and realize after that your pjs are soakeing wet, strip em off throw em in the laundry crawl in the shower get clean, repete... not letting the hot water go on my neck or head but also not takeing the cold shower that I should be takeing.... Solved the peeing problem by sitting down....

(looks like the CDC gets the chop in the President's budget... fortunately we still have it functioning)

What are the emergency warning signs of flu sickness?

In adults

Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
Sudden dizziness
Confusion

Severe or persistent vomiting
Flu-like symptoms that improve but then return with fever and worse cough

"dizzy spell from standing up too fast with fever and likely low blood pressure???"

If you actually passed out after getting up too fast, that's likely low blood pressure.

But I'd go somewhere cheap to just get your vitals taken(like BP and 02 sats), lungs listened to, and a flu swab. Chances are you've just got a nasty bug.

This winter sucks... lots of bad bugs out there.

20 miles to a clinic I have 102 now. driving not smart. will go to town tomorrow and get more juice and possibly a real thermometer.been using a photography thermometer for the last 30 years. Hydrateing and takeing curcumin. lived in a 320sqft cabin for 21 years with no real indoor plumbing. Gravity feed sink with dry well. outdoor shower, privy in the woodshed, no thermostat just woodstove. this is pretty casualy compared to that. I lived in that cabin when i hit 106 and another time hit 104. if I start halucinateing I will call for help. Seems I get whipped out much worse by sickness than I did before the time I hit 106. if the fever gets really bad I will go outside and take off my shirt for a bit. the clinic I went when I hit 106 the guy running it was ex army doctor. he gave me two choices. I could go outside and take my cheffs coat off or he was throwing me in a cold shower... I was thinking I was super cold but was burning up. going outside half nekid in winter really helped...

If yer breathing is fairly normal it would probably be a waste of time and money. Keep up
with yer fluids (light headedness) and Tylenol. AS SOON AS YOU NOTICE ANY BREATHING
PROBLEMS get yer butt to a clinic ASAP! The flu isn’t gonna kill you*, but pneumonia will.

*Unless it dehydrates you to a bad level.

Lots of clear fluids and no Dairy which will only thicken the mess in there.

You likely have the flu and need to have your lungs checked and likely xrayed for pneumonia. The flu itself probably won't kill you but the secondary pneumonia can. If you've got no means to check your o2 saturation, go to that clinic 20 miles away. You can go hypoxic and downhill pretty fast without knowing it.

I'm not buying that theory, mind you, but he seems to have sources espousing such a thing as persistent elevated body temp maybe somehow helping either kill 'em all or stimulate your immune system to greater heights.

Upside, he's right.
Downside, only your brain would have been fried, and we only use, what, 10% of that. Plenty to spare, especially ice climbers.
Hunker down for the next snow this week and yeah, maybe ice will build another time or two this season.

Low grade fever?
Chills?
Probably a high white blood cell count, meaning your body is still fighting it.
Best thing to do,stay warm ,don’t over exert, eat good and still plenty of fluids.

Secondary infections, see pneumonia, are common when immune systems are compromised.
