Looks fragile, and like a modification and improvement on the old Forester headlamps used on the Nose. Heavy SOBs! Those had four D cells in a steel case which went on your belt and pulled your pants down and a lamp that could sometimes be twisted to give either a spot or a flood. Lots of problems though with connections. They were always going out and were a real pain in the fundament when they did.

Don: Thanks for taking the time to share the TwinkleDolt story. I'd never heard or read of that device.
Fossil Climber! Thanks for bringing up the Justrite headlamp. Indeed, I did use one on my late 1960's summertime Forest Service fire-fighting job & climbed with one up until the 80's, since every other headlamp had shorter battery life & their own problems.
After years of nursing my Justrite headlamp, I knew every trick to keep it running & I needed every trick.
I remember wearing them all night with the same battery pack on two occasions while fighting fires, so battery life was awesome for those days.
One other note, Justrite originally made Carbide lamps for miners, before "switching-up" to electricity.
How things have changed.

Shoulda been called the JustWeight headlamp. It ain't heavy, it's my light source...
I owned one but always seemed to carry a couple of Mallorys instead with two AA batteries at a fraction of the weight come time to throw something in the top flap of my pack.

I admire the simplicity of that Twinkledolt lamp. Very cheap to make. A high school kid could put one together, no switch to go bad. No parts or covers to break.
