Just watched it on Netflix last night. Quite a moving story. I am blown away by Renan. I did not know about his head injury. The heart he showed is beyond human.
I think it is a worthwhile flick.

Having a stroke at twenty (?) thousand feet, in a portaledge, and getting up the next morning unable to speak, and leading ones block of pitches, is hard to beat!

Finally got around to this last night. I already knew that I'm worthless and weak, but this really drove it home. Soft like a big bowl of ice cream left out in the sun. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go for a run or lift something heavy...

There's a fine line between bad-ass and stupid. They definitely took risks that are outside the reasonable and risked each other's lives in doing so.
It didn't feel like a strong and cohesive team, did anyone else get that feeling?

^ I definitely felt uncomfortable with the optics of individual risk/gain calculations versus team risk/gain considerations

Yeah, the Renan thing was kinda sketchy...but nobody forced him.
Watching Chin go a cheval on the final-pitch snow arête off the belay almost made me turn away...

^ I could barely watch that part. And right off the belay it looked like he might factor one the anchor.

A very good film. Those guys definitely pushed things to the limit considering Renan's health issues. The house of cards pitch looks insane.
Chai Vasarhelyi (Mrs Jimmy Chin) is a talented film maker.
She made a good film about the Senegalese musician Youssou N'Dour called "I Bring What I Love"
